bolt in oil pan

Had anybody found a loose bolt in the oil pan? And where could it have come from?

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-05-2013 08:05 AM

is it a small bolt with an 8mm head?

drpepper 04-05-2013 08:41 AM

I'm not real sure of the size, I got a call from the dealership with the news. All they said there was a small bolt in thr the oil pan.

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-05-2013 09:30 AM

If I had to guess id say it made its way down from a previous hpop repair.

drpepper 04-05-2013 09:43 AM

I havnt had any problems, do you think she's good to run? Or should I dump a bunch of cash chasing it down?

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-05-2013 10:11 AM

well why was it at dealer?

drpepper 04-05-2013 12:14 PM

I was getting my coolant power flushed and oil changed.

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-05-2013 02:40 PM

ah ok. If you haven't had any recent work done to the engine that's pretty crazy but, theres no tellin if that bolt has been in there for a long time from a repair and finally made its way to the pan. If it runs fine I wouldn't worry about it. Knowing what the bolt looks like would help determine where it could have come from.

Just got back from the dealer he thinks its a quadra jet oil bolt. Ever hear of this? Ballpark $1800 just to investigate. How risky is it to run it for a couple thousand miles to save cash?

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-05-2013 03:12 PM

what in the world is a quadra jet oil bolt? haha

if its fairly tiny, it could be out of the top of an injector, have seen those come out and end up in the oil pan.
