6.0 reliability mods

Can anyone give me a list of the mods that are needed for an 04 f350 powerstroke to make it more reliable, to make it more like the 7.3l engine? I am fairly new at this so please try to refrain from too many abbreviations cause I wont know what the hell you are talking about :tu:. Also Where do i get this done? I talked to a Ford dealership the other day and they had no clue what I was talking about. Lastly, any rough numbers on cost? Is this like a 1-2k job or like a 4-5 job, to get it all done ?

Thanks a million

Head studs with new head gaskets, blue fuel spring upgrade, new oil cooler, egr delete, coolant filter kit, stay on top of your oil and filter changes, use rev x oil additive occasionally. Youll need to go to a diesel repair shop that is pretty familiar with powerstrokes and expect to pay around 3-4k possibly more.

Thanks millerboyz,

So I am trying to figure this all out and deciding on a gm or ford diesel and am pretty well torn right down the middle. It seems to be a nail in the foot of the fords that to make them reliable you need to drop 3-4 k on them at purchase to not lose sleep. Do you know of something similar that needs to be done to the gms? I am not brand loyal and this will be my first diesel so I need to know what I'm in for. Also, I'm not really looking for any super high hp mods and gains mainly just good mpg and reliability is key.

Thanks a ton man

Stick with 04.5 up duramax, you wont run into injector problems that the earlier ones had. Theres not a major list of things to do to these trucks, deleting the egr would be only thing worth while. You could do a cat fuel filter setup.

yeah thats where I am starting to lean with regards to which one. As far as the duramax itself is there anything in particular I should be looking for as far as a red flag on the rig?

thanks again

not really except for signs that it has been hot rodded and check for any coolant or oil leaks.

DONT DO THE 6.0 PSD MAN, YOU'LL KILL YOURSELF!!!! :scare2:(from pure frustration, that is)

is the 6.4 a better motor?
