my buddy's fleet trucks are all 6.0's pulling 305 Cat trackhoes all over. not a single problem with any of them. his personal 6.4 didnt last 30k. If you want real reliability 7.3 psd is the way to go.

BTW I'm not saying I personally would buy a 6.0 either..... I keep buying 7.3's. I'm super brand loyal to Ford..... But my next truck will more than likely be one with an 04.5 up duraturd or any Cummings:argh:

My Buddy Brandon lives a charmed life. He is the only person I know who hasn't had a 6.0 disaster. I believe he has 7 6.0 crew trucks at this point. In my perfect world I could buy a Ford with a CAT diesel in it....... I believe ford builds a bad ass truck then stuffs a turd in the engine compartment. Dodge put's a world class engine in theirs then hangs shit all around it. Chevy..... seems like a light duty truck with an ok engine.:s:

Ya know I couldn't have said it better myself, I agree with what you just said about all three trucks, it's a bummer ...... Do you have any real experience either first hand or from someone you know who has done all the master solution mods to a 6.0 ? Does it really make it a fairly reliable rig after that ? I only know one person with a ford diesel and his is a 7.3.

yes I do in fact. the truck is for sale at USA auto sales in Kennewick washington. 12k and 6mos. later..... he bought a Cummings. :ouch:

Love the look and size of a ford. Have had 2 24v cummins with 260k on one and 315kbon another. Traded a 97 12 v with 320k on a 06 power stroke...had my first repair at 24k it was a ficm and was all down hill from there. My unprofessional opinion is stay away from the 6.0

The key to buying a 6.0 is to not buy one from someone who thinks it is a Mustang, if they start telling you how fast it is then walk away. They can be very reliable and by addressing the known issues you can put some power to them and the trans will hold up alot better then the other 2, the allison trans in the chevy is good for stock power but once you start cranking it up the trans should be upgraded to hold up, Dodge, don't get me started with them, nothing at all wrong with the cummins, although they have issues too, but the garbage they put that great engine in leaves alot to be desired.

Understood. They all have problems I'm trying to figure out a fuel/timing/electrical issue on my 02 cummins right now. The 06 power stroke was the first truck I bought brand new...but by the time it gave out 145000 miles and 15 grand out of my pocket 0 of which ford warrantied, it kind of soured me on them. I'm in construction and depend on vehicles so mine and most of the people (4) personally that had them, spent a lot to keep them on the road. Just relaying my experience.

Anyone who knows how to use a wrench can repair,diagnose a 6.0 as good if not better then the dealeship, no matter what brand you go with I would look into Autoenginuity, you load it on a laptop and you can do the same diagnostics that the dealer does, its pretty impressive for around $360, still cheaper then one visit to the dealership.
