Coolant problem
Ok guys I can sometimes smell radiator coolant through my air vents. I'm not overheating but the coolant level is low. The coolant isn't on the ground when I check so where is it goin an what could be the problem? My truck is a 2005 F250
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Needin some quick helP on this ones guys kinda got me worried |
Is there a white residue around the coolant bottle cap?
|
Yes
|
That would be dried up coolant that is pushing out of the cap.
Any mods on the truck? Usually it's a egr cooler slowly going, or headgaskets. Could be as simple as the cap itself too. |
Only mod is a 5" turbo back exhaust. Hoping it's jus the egr cause the head gaskets is about 3600 to fix
|
$3,600 for head gaskets?! Is that dealer price?

|
That's jus to tear into it change the gaskets head studs egr blocker oil cooler
|
Yeah I'm sure that includes labor, that's probably about right.
Their right, that price isn't bad at all actually if it's being done at a Ford garage, unfortunately I wouldn't trust any ford shop to do the job correctly myself. Their specs on what a "flat" head is seem to differ from the rest of the world. There really isn't a scientific way to figure out which it is without diving in, but this is the best I've seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoi4h8EZPr8 |
