sitting diesel?
My dads construction company has an 89 service truck, it has the 7.3 idi, and what should i be on the lookout for cause its been sitting, i know there is no water in fuel. I wanna get it running again.
depends on how long is has been sitting. year and a half? fire it up! any longer than 2 years and fuel will be starting to go bad.
only about 6 months but i read on that diesel wil stay fresh for ten years. Is that true?
not this new shit. lucky to last a year or two.
My Peterbilt sat about 20 yrs unstarted. 2 good batteries and some air in the tires had it running and driving home. Ran fine.
may be a good idea to take a spare fuel filter with you in case algae or debris clogs it. but at only 6 months it is not too likely.
we got the fuel to the filter but should i crack the lines next? Or take the filter off, it wasnt firing when fuel was coming through shrader valve, .
It will need to prime its self......crank it a bit... might think about adding some fresh fuel as well... can also prime the fuel filter with atf ... its thicker and helps get things moving
