FUEL FILTER LIGHT BLINKS WHEN IDELING
Ok So got the shut off problem fixed now when I am at an idel the fuel filter light blinks fast and then when I pull away it goes off?????
The truck seems to run fine so I put a new filter on today but still does the same thing:argh:,Has anyone else had this problem Thanks |
i would check the wires going to it. one might be chaffed.
|
Just looked and there is no wire to the sensor on the bottom of the filter? should there be one there and if so what color:humm:. Thanks DC
|
not quite sure, my 6.9 has the older system. there should be a wire going to the bottom of the housing and 2 to the top if i remeber correctly. it will be a pushon connector.
|
I just found a cut black wire I am guessing that goes to the bottom sensor. Thanks for the help DC.

Bottom is for water in fuel light.
Top has two, one for fuel heat, and one for filter restriction, but if I remember correctly it's not a delta P light, it's a low pressure light which would mean that a faulty fuel pump could cause it to light. |
What is a delta p light????
just changed my manuel fuel pump, how can I test fuel pressure could it be a bad sensor? it comes a goes??????? Thanks rjjp |
Sorry bout that, this is why I should not stay up all night on prepware and trying to answer posts, but anyways.
A delta P light is a light commonly found on jet aircraft which warns of impending filter bypass, is is run via pressure differential not out put pressure, therefore a failing pump could not cause it. You're pump can be tested by hooking up a fuel pressure gauge, the valve on the housing makes a good place for it, sorry but I can't remember how much pressure at what RPM off hand but know that it's at least 7psig at 2000 rpm. Yes, a bad sensor could cause it to light up, as could a short. Have a good one and report back, I'm going to bed. |
Mine comes on when I running the rear tank but, goes off when I switch to the front tank. Wft?
