Parking brake/dash problems

My '88's dash and parking brake seems to be loose; the dash seems okay normally, but when you apply the brake, the dash flexes down and half the time, the brake doesn't wanna catch on the first try.

is your dash broken or loose on the drivers side somewhere make sure everything is tight there at your emergency brake and not wore out and not catching where it is suppose to:humm:

I dunno WTF to look for, really; I was hoping there was one big bolt somewhere you guys knew about.

ArizonaRedneck 02-18-2010 04:31 PM

well look around under your dash while you move it around and see if its broke or loose anywhere

Spurrit 02-18-2010 04:33 PM

It's not THAT loose; it just flexes down on the driver's side when you stomp the parking brake.:dang:

ArizonaRedneck 02-18-2010 04:37 PM

well can you see anywhere that the parking brake assembly is loose and it could just be wore out look at it while you apply it to see if anything is badly worn on it :humm:

Spurrit 02-18-2010 04:41 PM

It's an '88; EVERYTHING is badly worn out!

ArizonaRedneck 02-18-2010 04:46 PM

well go to the junkyard and see if you can find one that fits and is in better shape and replace it or carry around a 4by4 block of wood for an emergency brake :scare2:

I used to keep a piece of RR iron just for that purpose, in a previous truck.
