tcm fuse keeps blowing

My 94 has a e40d trans. I stopped for a stop sign and went to go and felt like it was being held back. The od light was on. On the shifter. So I shifted it to reverse and went fine. Put it back in drive and still was bad. I shifted it to low and works good .and if after going will work fiine but no od. Looked under hood at maxi fuses and one was blown. It is the tcm # 22 on my truck. So I replaced it and it blew again. Wires seem to look ok nothing that jumps out at me as wrong. Anyone have any info or similar problem ? Thanks.

Put a new vss on the truck, located on the rear pumpkin, and if equipped unplug the ABS control module located behind the glovebox and ditch it.

I would also suspect bad grounds somewhere along the way also ..... the abs need to stay plugged in ... other wise if you punch the breaks they will lock up .... not safe to just unplug ... fix it right ....

Ok...so I put a vss in the rear end and still... it keeps on blowing the fuse. I have a power probe . And read voltage on one side of the fuse under the hood...and continuity on the othe side. Doesnt that mean there is a direct ground on that side? But I cannot find it.... pulling my hair out.

I typically start with a wiring diagram for the circuit in question and unplug every plug possible. Once I've check each branch for short to ground I work back section by section until I find my short.

try running your own " Known good wire " .. like a jumper just fro temporary ... see what thats doin .... and power it with your power probe as well, if the circiut breaker goes on the Powewr probe you know where you have an issue ...

One of the reasons I really like the hook. Adjustable circuit breaker and amperage readings lol

Well I got it... it wasn't even anything to do with the vss or the wire.... after reading other threads ...I found the fuel pre heater was on the same circuit. .. went out unplugged it and bam....all is good again. Thanks guys for he input. These forums are one of my best friends....greatly cause this is my first diesel ...there is so much knowledge and willingness to help. Thanks again

I didnt think that was the tcm circuits? Just wastegate, idm and fuel heater iirc.

That is why I couldn't figure it out. Owners manual don't say that is on there.... not real sure yet what all it controls. But am investigating ....I do know that it worked. And now looking for a fix for the pre heater.
