Need advice on 93 f-250

Hello everyone, I'm new to diesel trucks and don't know much about them other than what I've read here. So I'm looking at a 1993 f-250 xtra cab 4x4 7.3 non turbo w/225k. It looks to be in really good condition for the year. I'll try to post pics. Paint looks great, body is straight, has a lift kit, not sure what size and brand new 20" XD rims with 38" tires which apparently are kinda wasted. oh almost forgot it has a sound system which I don't really care, but the guy kept on telling me about it lol. Bad news is that the 4x4 doesn't work because its missing the hub lockers only, but everything else works. I told my buddy since he's a mechanic and knows all about these trucks and he said it would cost $100 for just the locking hubs, that's if all the inside works whatever that is. Anyways the guy was asking $3850 for the truck, but I talked to him and told him that if it runs as good as he was telling me, then the most I could give him was $3300 and he said ok. Usually I wouldn't negotiate over the phone but he's in San Diego close to the border, which is about 2 hours away from me. So I'm going over this Friday to check it out and I'm taking my buddy to take a look at it and give me his opinion on it. So knowing all this what do you guys think. Is it a good deal? I'm worried about the mileage, but my buddy says these trucks can last thousands of miles that is if you take care of the truck and keep up on maintenance. Also what kind of mpg will I be getting highway and street? Any other things that these trucks are known for like parts that aren't built right or maybe things that I should replace or anything like that? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If it runs OK, price is reasonable. Engine is bullet-proof. Tranny might need careful look w/ mileage and tires. Wouldn't be surprised if lift and injector pumps are on final leg. Anything rubber needs careful inspection--probably cracked, unless already replaced. Most everything can be fixed by weekend wrench. Good luck.

Pretty much everything he said above ^ and yes price isn't bad is bullet proof engine but you might be disappointed in the power if that's what your looking for otherwise these will last 500,000 plus if properly cared for.

ok ill ask to see if the tranny has had any work done or has been replaced. As far as power goes I'm happy with what it is, I'm not trying to race or anything like that. Just need it to load up my dirtbike's and occasional trailer with sandrail. Also was wondering I want to put a single stack on it, but ive heard of people saying since its a non-turbo it has to be a certain size? Something about damaging your drive-train or valves. Do you guys know anything about this.

i had a 6.9 non turbo, ran dual exhaust back behind the cab with 18 inch glass packs, and stacks up behind the cab, was loud, but worked great, if you are going into one stack, be sure it is big enough to not cause backpressure and raise the EGT's too high, that will burn valves.

So what size stack should be good.

3.5 or 4 inch should be plenty

I have a 3 down pipe straight piped and it has adapters going to a 7in stack sounds good and good egt
