Smile Michelin EdgeLiner Material Matters

Michelin EdgeLiner knows you can’t build a great product without great material. That’s why we use Thermoplastic Elastomer—or TPE. TPE acts and feels more like rubber than plastic, and its performance proves its worth. It is heavier than other commonly used resins, more flexible, and it allows us to build massive 17 mm channels more than 3 times deeper than other liners. Our injection molding process gives us the ability to build structural pieces that support higher walls and better shape retention over time, making a liner with greater overall durability.

The other custom floor liners on the market are made from a material that is rigid and stiff. Imagine a stiff sheet of plastic that is heated and formed over a mold of your vehicle's floor. This is the standard for other companies, but it has limitations. The material gets thin when heated, and it loses its shape over time. It also can only be formed to make a channel about 5 mm deep, and the walls warp if they go too high.

Our goal is to combine functionality, appearance, and practicality in one liner.
