What to be aware of on dodges

I going with a friend to look at a cummins for him, he doesn't know much about diesels, I do but more on the powerstroke side. All I know is it's a 01 ext. Cab auto with long bed and 200,000 miles and the guys asking 11,000. Is that seem about right on price? What should I look for as common problems?

Thanks

ask about the lift pump and vp44 :tu:

Yep, ask how old they both are, and where the lift pump is. Intank, or block mounted.

Check for a 53 block:

It has a new injection pump, fuel pump and six. Pump. What about the price seem fair?

Front end seems to be the only huge problem I've really heard alot about with friends trucks. Buddy of mine had a problem with the overdrive unit in his 01 but he thought the stock tranny aand wheel bearings would survive on 35s too lol. I'd offer less and see what he says, don't insult him just look for a little better deal

How's the exterior and interior?

11 grand is a tad too much, especially when it books for 9 (assuming it's in great condition).

Yeah we haver gone to see it yet the guy has two jobs and I work shift work so it'll be Monday I believe, interior looked pretty good, exterior had a few scratches from pictures

11K seems a little steep but not outrageous. When you test drive it hit every bump possible to see if there are any front end clunks. Also make sure to lay into the throttle to see if the trans slips at all.

Do the key check to see if the VP44 death code comes up. Turn the key to the on position and back to the off position 3 times. Then the codes will pop up where the odometer is. P0216 is the VP44 death code

Check for any rot/rust on the bottoms of the doors too! They are notorious for rotting through there

If it's 4wd Check the track bar steering box play, & the above mentioned items, bottom of tailgate rot, driver seat wear, vacum pump o-ring leak 11,000 some what high for year& mileage, everyone here on the same page
