I think seeing that it has the largest brakes offered on a pickup and the most powerfull exhaust brake, is bigger news than a few more factory ponies.

i will admit that is deffinitely the bigger more impressive news but still too late in the 2011 game for me. i guess better late than never but maybe this will spark something with ford and gm on the braking. i'd like to see a test on how it really slows it down.

hey how about an idea. three dieselbombers with 2011's from all three companies. stock of course and do a true test to see how they all rank.

The biggest news there is the Improvements to the GVWR. I don't really care for the torque curve of the dodge. It peaks pretty early but it drops pretty quick. By the time the engine reaches peak horse power, the torque is back to where it was before the update.

Ford has always been about having the best numbers in everything. Their 400hp and 800 ft lbs was and is a gimmick.

2 graphs from diesel power mag showing the difference between the old and new Ford tunes.

its not cummins that is behind on power its dodges engineers/lawyers that were holdin back on a higher power rating. im glad to see the weight ratings came up finally to.

ford DOES NOT OWN CUMMINS!!

FORD OWNS a share in Cummins or at least did,and besides that Dodge has exclusive light duty rights (a contract).Fords come from the factory WITH Cummins in them froever, just not below F-550s.Bunch of know it all nitwits.GFY

Its funny how its always the Dodge guys crying the loudest here,I guess being firmly entrenched in third place will give you a bit of an inferiorty complex.FORDS COME FROM THE FACTORY WITH CUMMINS AND ALWAYS HAVE.

madmikeismad 03-09-2011 06:30 AM

Ford had I think 8% at the most, a long time ago. I don't think they have any shares anymore.

And yes, the larger fords come with cummins from the factory. But why pay that much for a truck when you can get a ram 3500 that will do the same amount of work for cheaper?

Maybe that's because this is posted in the Dodge Truck and Cummins Turbo Diesel Forum?:humm:

And you are right. Ford DID own a small percentage (less than 15%) in Cummins, in the form of shares, about 2 decades ago. Cummins bought those shares back not long after, eliminating any tiny amount of "ownership" Ford had.

The B-series Cummins was/is, in fact, available in the F-650, and up until last year, so was the 7.2L CAT. Does that mean Ford owns Caterpillar too?
