HID's

alright im going to buy some hids so that i can see at night when im driving, what temperature do you guys think i should get, im thinking 6000k or 8000k

spoolinaround 11-29-2007 02:51 AM

6k, they are anal about blue headlights here in Ohio so I didnt get the 8k, the 6's are bright

cashwheel 11-29-2007 04:18 AM

I got the 10000, and I love them, have not been pulled over yet, they are very blue.

Benjamin 11-29-2007 12:20 PM

i got the 8K's and they are mighty blue too.... i love mine.... best mod for night driving so far. be careful though some of the HID kits are only for low beams. mine are. but they are bright enough i never "need" high beams. i've seen 3 different types of HID's. the ones i have that are just low beams, there are oned that have motorized that adjust the angle of the bulb for low and high beam, and then there are the low/high low being the HID and the high being a halogen bulb...... look at all the kits out there and remember that cheaper isn't always better....

DangerousDuramax 11-29-2007 12:23 PM

pilothid.com makes a good set of lights with a decent warranty and reasonable price.

DB Admin 11-29-2007 12:32 PM

How much are these?

Benjamin 11-29-2007 12:51 PM

i bought mine from a friend that owns www.ledgauges.com mine were $220 over a year ago. i think they have come down. he offers a 1 year warranty through him so there is no having to deal with the manufacturer BS.....

DBogo 11-29-2007 01:07 PM

you guys got any pics of your trucks with the headlights on

Benjamin 11-29-2007 01:10 PM

not currently. i'll be home tomorrow night and i can take some then. will that work?

The set I looked at for my truck was $175 for low beams and $160 for the fogs.

spoolinaround 11-29-2007 03:55 PM

we are getting a group buy going on the 9004 bulb kits on our local car club, they are nice, 4k-12k both bulbs and ballasts in 9004 for $100

Dr. Evil 11-29-2007 04:23 PM

Ok - heres a question - how long will the HID bulbs last????? They are like $90 each....

Spoolin - I might be interested in that group buy. Do those have hi/low beam?

DangerousDuramax 11-29-2007 04:39 PM

Heres another good site for looking up what bulbs you need or finding out what Sylvania bulbs work in your vehicle.

Dr. Evil 11-29-2007 10:40 PM

Nobody answered my question - are the HID replacement bulbs really $90 each? How long will they last?

Benjamin 11-29-2007 10:44 PM

http://www.xenonlink.com/index.php?cPath=32_48

Dr. Evil 11-29-2007 10:49 PM

How long have you had yours Ben? Have you done a lot of night driving since?

Good link...I would like to have the hi/low beam HID's though.

Benjamin 11-29-2007 10:51 PM

spoolinaround - can anyone get in on this?

cashwheel 12-04-2007 03:30 PM

looks just like the kit I got on ebay for 120, bi-zenon, they move when you hit the brights, I haven't had them that long so I dont know about longevity, but as crappy as stockers are they are well worth the money. I converted to 9007's before the mod so I ordered the 9007 kit and they work great. I'm thinking about buying some of these buckets of ebay to put them in, and add a second set.

Dr. Evil 12-04-2007 04:12 PM

Those are the same housings Ive been looking at - Im not convinced they are suitable for a HID conversion though. I wonder if they would work ok?

DBogo 12-05-2007 11:57 PM

i got the 1 piece ones and the HID's are on there way so i will let you know how they work out, i also got the bixenons in the 8000k

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Dr. Evil 12-06-2007 12:24 AM

Dr. Evil 12-06-2007 12:28 AM

Have you driven at night with them?

DBogo 12-06-2007 12:32 AM

Dr. Evil 12-06-2007 12:34 AM

DBogo 12-06-2007 11:30 AM

Dr. Evil 12-06-2007 01:23 PM

No to mention the wrecks you leave behind you as the oncoming traffic is blinded.

ok... reading to many diffrent threads on this. so heres one question.

the hid conversiton wont work with the projector light kits?
but they will with the stock light housing?
ok so now im really confused. all i want is a black headlight assembly. with hid`d

DBogo 12-09-2007 09:45 AM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-01...QQcmdZViewItem

i got those but the clear ones, i put up the black cause you said you wanted black ones, i guess the HID's dont work with the projectors thats what i was told also, and as for the HID's the the fella from retro-solutions was excellent to do business with, they were at my front door in 2 days, the product was easy to install and very high quality
