DLDs came in the autos right? Oddly enough i have a DHD. Maybe a camper package or something?

94cummins12v 12-27-2008 11:28 PM

i have no idea mine is a nv4500 5speed with the dld version, how hard would it be to split the case and sway input shafts

rdnckhauss 12-28-2008 10:03 PM

Damn That sucks
i dont' think that hp was the problem, i think it somethign called Torque. it can be a problem and breaks thinks. Sorry for the bad luck, i hope everything works out.

94cummins12v 12-28-2008 10:27 PM

how hard would it be to split the case and sway input shafts

stkdram55 12-28-2008 10:59 PM

its not, you'll need to swap the input hub over to the one from the manual, my friend had his apart when he switched from a auto to manual

94cummins12v 12-28-2008 11:08 PM

i know i have to swap input shafts but hub? so no special tools to split the case?

stkdram55 12-28-2008 11:22 PM

i dont believe so just some bolts holding it together, and yes the hubs if your using a Transfer case from an auto, i cant remeber it exactly but his truck wasnt staying locked in and when he would drive it, it would act like it was between 2wd and 4wd and start grinding and he ended up taking it to a trans shop and it was a detent ball and the hub in the transfer case

94cummins12v 12-28-2008 11:31 PM

so do i just have to remove the hub and input shaft and throw my input shaft into it

stkdram55 12-28-2008 11:35 PM

i think that would work, i can talk to him tommorow and ask him exactly what they did:U:

94cummins12v 12-28-2008 11:36 PM

ya if you could find out exactly how to do it that would be great and would save me a 500 mile trip for the dld version and just step up to the dhd version

stkdram55 12-28-2008 11:42 PM

will do

94cummins12v 12-29-2008 09:17 PM

any luck there stkdram55

i have a np205 t-case on a chevy i had many years ago, full 3/4ton swap under a single cab short bed on 40s. the np205 is a bad mofo.

Bosshogg 01-15-2009 02:15 PM

Pair of snap ring pliers is the only special tool you need to split that case. I have had mine out and split apart trying to stop the POS from bleeding everywhere. I completely re-sealed it with the right stuff and it still leaks like a sieve.

FWIW, my 2500 came with camper package AND tow package, which got it 4.10 rears, but still a DLD transfer case...:argh::madd:

94cummins12v 01-16-2009 12:58 AM

ok ya i got her done last weekend, its a 241 dhd now with billet shafts all the way around, splitin it wasnt hard just pullin some of them snap rings off was a pain in the ass, only one leak though and its were the oil pump pickup line is
