Okay Guys Which One To Go With
Im thinking about replacing my vp44, its got over 200k on it(no im not kidding) and with the setup im running, i feel i need something with more flow, so which do i go with and which will work best with my edge juice/attitude and 150 horse injectors?
the Hotrod VP44 The monster vp44 or a factory high flow vp44 from an 01/02 highout put 24 valve? thanks:pca1: |
Well from I've been reading I think you'd be fine with a stock pump as long as you have a really good lift pump feeding it pressure.
Here's a really good thread: https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-2...-vs-stock.html |
A SO pump will work just fine for you. The HO pumps dont respond real well to fueling boxes. As well, many guys are unhappy with the HRVP. My 2 cents FWIW.
Edit - looks like Johnny just beat me to it. |
I was also in this predicament and was told by many that the SO can make more power
|
sweet, that confirms what ive been hearing around town from someother guys running them, just wanted to make sure i got info.

Yup! Stay away from the HO pumps. They don't like added power. My understanding is cause of the way they were tweaked for the HO engines?
Go with the HotRod Vp. Make sure you get one from a quality builder. Scheid Diesel services Dodge Rams Fuel Injection Pumps Or, If you want to go all out! Scheid's makes a P-pump conversion kit! That would be the way to go! |
i would but i need it to be streetable 95 percent of the time, its my daily driver
|
i would go with a stage 1 monster if it was me Hot Rod VP44 Stage 1
well worth it in my opinion:U: |
If your's is working good why mess with it?
She throwin' codes? |
no just not running right and shes starting to surge a little especially at idle, mainly for the first 15 minutes after being fired or until the engine hits 150 degrees, she also seems to be down a little on power, i was running low 15s in the quarter, now with nothing changed im down to 16s??? and ive got a lot less smoke? my fuel pressure has stayed the same thanks to my fass, the pump has 210k miles on it, orginal pump that came with the truck, most of them ive heard go out around 100-150 thousand miles, so mine is way over due.
