Kind of an expensive raking tractor no??

FarmDiesel 06-27-2009 06:36 PM

Well, it cuts the need for 1 extra person, Ive got my tools and a ride at the same time. :rocking: So its pretty effective in the long run.

94Matt 06-27-2009 07:29 PM

Hey, whatever you got to tell yourself :c:

I just can't help but think that would be awful rough driving around in the field with pickup tires. Must not use corrugations down there?

FarmDiesel 06-28-2009 09:59 PM

We have been running trucks in the field like this for about 30 years at my family business, only real problem is cleaning the radiator/condenser Etc. But its nothing an air gun cant fix.

94Matt 06-29-2009 07:00 PM

Ahh, must be custom haying? Now it's all starting to make sense:ok1:

FarmDiesel 06-29-2009 07:40 PM

Yeah, we mainly use trucks in the long distance 1 baler jobs, but when we get 3 balers together, we usually put a tractor on the wheel rakes and a truck as backup... Seeing as how the average raking tractor is cabless (hot and a bee hazard) and cant move over 15mph when the ground driven NH rakes can go 22mph and the tonutti wheel rakes can go about 45mph.
Today we have 3 8130/IVTs baling with 567 balers, a 7830 on the wheel rakes and a
00 7.3L dually on the rakes you see in the picture.

P.S. the main reason I like to rake with my truck is cold A/C Good tunes, cold beer right there in the back and its often smoother then a tractor :5:

dozerboy 07-03-2009 03:09 PM

You need to get rid of the Deer baler and get a Super M then you can crank up the IVT's :choochoo:

FarmDiesel 07-06-2009 12:28 PM

Those are highway speeds by the way. The double rakes can only rake like 8mph tops. And the wheel rakes can rake like 12 mph. If the field is smooth enough that is.

Super M? I bet that would be hard to get parts for. Dont think ive heard of anyone anywhere near here selling those. Besides the John Deere balers have been good to us.
We run 3 567 Mega wides with net wrap and kickers... Only problem so far would be the faulty off brand netwrap we bought once. :argh:

damn thats a long trailer

stevenbrazell 01-22-2010 12:37 AM

looks like a 50'

skinnysfd 01-22-2010 07:13 AM

Yeah its a 40' deck with 8' dovetail. The buddy i bought it from had them custom make it. they said it was the longest trailer they have made for a gooseneck. overall length from hitch to tail is 53' It takes a little getting used to when pulling but for my equipment it is perfect.

FarmDiesel 01-31-2010 12:20 PM

Took a while for this thread to wake up.. But im glad it did, nice trucks :tu:

Uncle Bubba 01-31-2010 12:39 PM

Hell I use my truck for pullen implements all the time. I used to have some old horse drawn chisel plows and cultivators that I used the truck with to work the pastures down. Air conditioning was nice and as long as the turn weren't to sharp I never had to raise the blades. 4 low 1st gear was just the right speed to idle along. I still use my truck to pull the manure spreader, this way I can use the loader on the tractor to fill it and the truck to spread it and I never have to unhitch it.

I've got a gooseneck I use that measure's out 46 foot total length hitch to bumper that been a project in the makin for a few years now. I been usin it as i build it but someday I need to finish it. Damn Tornado took out my shop a few years back and kinda put a crimp in things.

blkjack 01-31-2010 01:21 PM

This is what we use to haul beef from the butchering plant to the processing plant. My dad an I built the box on a 18ft goose neck and fabbed all the railing inside.

http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...h_DSC00610.jpg

This is the inside rail system we just tie a pig tail to the trailer and then either building whether we are loading or unloading and the beef just roll along by rail

The slave and the toy.... But I'm not sure which is which.......

FarmDiesel 02-09-2010 11:17 PM

Your roundbales look... Tired.

Uncle Bubba 02-09-2010 11:22 PM

Yes they were. That was some left overs from a barn we were cleanin out that was gettin sold.

FarmDiesel 02-16-2010 12:45 AM

I oughta get a picture of some of the "chewing tobacco" roundbales we loaded into dumptrucks for people. Milo stubble gets pretty nasty after 6 years :tttt:

Uncle Bubba 02-16-2010 12:51 AM

You just bring up a few bales of that chew. You'd save me a butt load a money. Wish I could find some just straight tobacco to chew. Everything we buy in the shops is all this flavored crap.

This was just old grass bales in that pic that we just moved last month. In a barn they stay good for feed but they sure do loosen in the twine. Now the old Alfalfa that's another thing. That stuff turns brown and get's all gooey like caramel. Cattle eat it up when it's like that but it's some nasty stuff to move around.

FarmDiesel 02-16-2010 11:09 AM

That reminds me of the hay shortage 3 years ago... We bought silage from a dairy that had been closed for almost 10 years. We owned no dump trailers at the time, so we loaded it into a grain hopper trailer. Guess who got to climb up top and poke it with a stick every time, to make it unload? :poak:

Nice. What are those trailers?

DIRTYMAX2004 02-17-2010 12:52 AM

the first one is just a regular enclosed trailer. second one (on the dodge) is a dust collector. third one is a giant vacuum.

Dust collector sucks the dust out of the air well sandblasting inside a tank. the vacuum is used to clean up the sand. its way better then using a wheelborrow and shovel.

Oh. You clean out grain tanks? we had some sandblasted and painted on the inside and I actually had to use a wheelbarrow on them. They are pretty huge tanks. I oughta get some pictures of em.

We mainly specialize in oil tanks but will tackle pretty much any job we have the equipment for. biggest tank i have been in is 150'x50'.
