Snow Plowing!!

anyone here use there Trucks to snow plow?? I got a BOSS 8ft 6in super duty XT with wings for a plow, i traded it on a Snow Way mega V more like mega junk the darn thing wouldnt raise and they dont have a fix for it yet, so im getting my BOSS back its like new, also going to trade my Fisher tailgate 1000 spreader for a Boss TGS 1100 has more capasity and i got a gift card for the BOSS dealer so what the heck. what do you guys got for equipment and plowing jobs?? I do alot of driveways and walmarts parking lot,dad does a huge housing development! had a guys complain that $35 was alot for his 100ft driveway so i said well ok cya next storm, we got our next storm and i plowed everyone else out and waited to about 4pm to plow his house and when i got there he was shoveling his driveway and he looked real happy:ok1:! well i started plowing and he was really glad he put his shovel away and watched me plow got done rolled my window down and he handed me $40 instead of $35 he said thank you and im happy you came cause shoveling sucks!!!:U:

Diesel Decals 12-25-2008 10:56 PM

I have an 02 F250 with a meyers C-8 plow that I love. I plow a Walmart and Sams Club when my friend needs another truck

yj junker 12-26-2008 07:03 AM

I've got a 8ft diamond str8 blade on my 99 cummins and a 8ft fisher str8 blade on my fathers 99 cummins (put it away,he has become a snowbird and migrated to florida for the winter w/ the truck)and a 7ft fisher str8 blade on my 95 f150 gasser(4 sale) but this winter i gave up all my residential and commercial plowing because the rates around her are just pitiful and i am not plowing for just enough to pay for my fuel some guy's around here are doing residential driveway's for $10 a storm, I just plow my own yard and a buddy's down the street because he store my bug every winter in his barn for me but it still takes me 2 hrs to clean up after a storm (1 1/2 hrs for my yard alone)

CAT MAN 12-26-2008 03:28 PM

$30 for a little one!!

dozerboy 12-26-2008 04:22 PM

My dad ran a Boss V 8.5' IIRC and 3 8' Fisher strights, but got rid of them all after I moved away and he sold his place in town. We did a few commercial lots, but mostly gas stations. The only driveways we did where our friends place that where convenient and normally only form $5-$10 but that was 5 years ago. I miss plowing that was always a good time except the one time we where at it for about 32 hrs. straight. Some times when I go back home I'll help out my buddies that plow.

CAT MAN 12-26-2008 05:18 PM

cool dozer, we had a storm the other day that had 12hours of plowing and 6hours the next day.

midnite><og 12-26-2008 08:01 PM

id love too!!!! but i have 2 problems:
not enough snow,
and dont have a plowing veicle....

until then, enjoy:

CAT MAN 12-26-2008 08:13 PM

Nice vids got to love the railroad, I think i will stick to my pickup though the train is out of the price tag..

94cummins12v 12-26-2008 11:36 PM

that was sweet i had the v style on mine and hated it went out and bought the boss 8' 6" and love it

CAT MAN 12-27-2008 08:08 AM

The only thing a V plow has over the straight plow is the scoop positon it works good for parking lots.. put you can put wings on the straight plow and there yea go prob solved.

dozerboy 12-27-2008 02:38 PM

The Vs works a lot better for us in gas stations even over wings and we could pile higher, but that may have been more the truck.

CAT MAN 12-27-2008 05:10 PM

the BOSS seems to pile high enough, but we dont really have to worry about that cause they load the snow on dump trucks and take it away

DazedandConfused 12-27-2008 07:02 PM

I've plowed since I was old enough to run the tractor. Started on the tractor, then Bobcat then trucks. We have a 95 Chevy Dump with a Meyers HD commercial 9' dad uses. At work we run a 95 F-205 with an 8' Western Pro, a 96 with a Snoway(Junk) and just got our new 09 F-250 last week. It will have a 8' Western Pro as well. I will never run a plow and salt spreader on a nice truck I own. Salt is the fastest killer to a truck.

CAT MAN 12-27-2008 07:24 PM

salt does kill a truck but if you take care of it and keep it washed when you get a warm day then you will be ok.. I mean like getting the frame and under the fenders and everything.

DazedandConfused 12-27-2008 07:29 PM

Ours get cleaned after every snow and they are still rotting apart. We have stuff that is supose to neutralize the salt and everything we put on them and it slows it is about all.

CAT MAN 12-27-2008 07:37 PM

hmm what kind of spreaders do you have the new TGS 1100 boss hitch spreader i got has a pretty good size back guard on it so barley any salt hits the truck or frame goes were it needs it to be on the ground behind me..

DazedandConfused 12-27-2008 09:11 PM

We run a roadways 2.5 Yard V-Box, a new Snow Way 1.5 yard V-box, a Western Pro Flow tailgate spreader and dad runs a old school buyers. The Snow way spreader sucks just as bad as there plows. Everyone I know that runs Boss around here hates them with a passion. Always breaking on them and no one carries parts in our area for them. I'm a fan of Western and Blizzard mainly because I can get parts quickly and reasonably.

CAT MAN 12-28-2008 07:49 AM

I grew up on BOSS and my dad gave me his 2007 BOSS 8ft 6in with wings to me it looked brand new there wasnt even a mark on it.. then i was told that the new SNow Wya mega V is a good plow and i pulled the trigger on one and boy it looks bad A$$ but the darn thing lifted the first day fine and the next day it would barley lift so i took it down to the dealer and they put a new power pack in it and it worked great the first lift then got slower and slower so I said I dont think i want to have a plow like this the dont work so i got my money and BOSS back..

DazedandConfused 12-28-2008 09:29 AM

Yeah even the old snow way we have is like that. It has a mind of its own and works when it decides to. I've never personally ran a Boss so I cant comment on them. I just wish it would freaking snow around hear. The 23 we got an ice storm and yesterday it was almost 70. Stupid weather is killing me around here.

CAT MAN 12-28-2008 09:54 AM

53 here right now we had a good snow storm last week and a few ice storms sence.. were looking at some snow in the middle and end of this coming week so cross your fingers.

DazedandConfused 12-28-2008 11:11 AM

I hope it snows. I can really use the money.:choochoo:

CAT MAN 12-28-2008 11:23 AM

you and me both.. what do you charge for a average size driveway???

DazedandConfused 12-28-2008 01:08 PM

I havent plowed a driveway in seven years. I work for a local college and all I plow now is lots and main roads. Dad only plows a few driveways but I would not call them average. One of them is three miles long and all up a steep hillside.

Nitelord 12-28-2008 01:20 PM

I have a Sno-Way 29T. I plow 14 residential drives and 2 commercial contracts this season.

It's a big jump for me. Last year I had 2 driveways and one commercial lot.

CAT MAN 12-28-2008 03:48 PM

rock on nitelord I got 3 commercial lot and a few drives, Im going to talk to this construction company that im going to work for and see if i can sub off them with my truck for plowing

DIESELDENT 12-29-2008 08:51 AM

We have a Meyers 8ft on my 95, a 7ft blade for my bobcat and a 4 ft blade on my gator. and plow 9.5 miles of county roads and a few drive ways and always lookin for more. I just blasted and POR15 the frame on the truck and underside it was getting a little rusty.

I subbed last year to bring in some extra $. This year I'm only doing the sidewalk for the same company. They liked the liquid deice I use and asked me to do the walks only.

It's a good deal, they provide the equipment, I provide the deice liquid and they know my accounts come first. I'm sure they will buy their own next year, I figure I'd strike while the iron was hot...:U:

CAT MAN 12-29-2008 10:13 AM

cool the thing i like about the company im going to sub for is the pay for your fuel if you use your truck and repairs and anything like that so its all good..

Nitelord 12-29-2008 10:39 AM

That is a good deal.
Repairs can set you back the whole season if the wrong thing breaks...

Plow parts, next day. :ph:

A tranny, weeks...:argh:

I'm a one man shop. I don't have a back up truck yet. I do keep several friends in the business close at hand. I've never used them, but they would jump in an help if I had a big breakage. Same as I would help them out... What goes around comes around...

CAT MAN 12-29-2008 01:10 PM

well Im more then likly going to use there truck anyway cause i think i have a buyer for my plow a spreader...

nomod_dodge01 12-30-2008 09:23 AM

I run a 8' Fisher Minute Mount and a Fisher Speed Caster. Have been plowing for probably 15 years now. Plowing is blood money. Every year I dread when the snow starts but love the money at the end of the year. Beleive it or not the best accounts I have are Adult book stores.

Boss plow picts

Hello Cat Man, do you have any picts of the Boss XT hooked up to your truck?

IC Smoke 01-01-2009 09:29 AM

I've been pushing the white shat around since I could run our old cub cadet 145 hydrostatic. I plowed commercially for 6 years and just got out of it since Im working for the old man now. Im in charge of our trailer park, company parking lots and the rest of our homes and a few relatives.... so 8 residential drives.

I put the Meyer classic II mount on my 06 so I just took the plow from my 01 and use that. Id like to step up to a Boss 8'2" in the next year or two.

The V blade would help with the parking lots as I have to push them in a corner then use the tractor and dump truck to haul away.

CAT MAN 01-06-2009 08:56 AM

I dont have any pics yet..

7.3 Cowboy 03-04-2009 05:30 PM

They guy I push for we use a 05 f-450 with a 8'6'' Western COntracotr series blade, Western salt spreader, 05 F-350 with a Meyers 8'6'' blade, meyers salt spreader, 08 T-190 BOBCAT with a 9' blade on it.
