I was looking at the mounts on fordcummins. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with these?

I used them with mine, the ones for the 6BT. Nothing but good about FordCummins from this guy :tu:

And ditto on the crossmember. For the NV4500, we moved it back about 3-4 inches, drilled new holes in the frame for the crossmember, and new holes in the crossmember for the tranny.

Sounds good. Now I just need to find a nv4500 with a transfer case without breaking the bank.

buy a 96+ dodge 4x4 with a burntup motor, take everything you need from it, accesory brackets, wiring, flywheel housing, ect, then peddle the block as a core and sell the truck. w00t!:c:

Why not use a ZF5 tranny? I understand that the NV4500 is superior in strength, reliability and aftermarket support, but I've run many many ZF5's into the ground behind 7.3 IDI diesels and have had very little trouble with them. If he's not towing very often, and not looking to be a dyno/track/sled queen, then maybe the ZF5 could offer it's weight savings and native-to-Ford-doghouses attributes....not to mention being something a little different. If the ZF5's can handle the numbers of a 7.3 IDI, albiet far from impressive, then they should handle that 4BT just fine. DeStroked makes adaptor plates for them, and the transfercase behind the E4OD should bolt right up to the ZF5. Just food for thought...:w2:

Sounds good. Ill look into that too

Depending on his budget, an adapter plate would throw an extra $700 into the pot. Now if he can find a ZF5 for considerably cheaper than an NV, then go for it.
