1968 chevy

i'm trying to build the truck off of the latest fast and furious. they said that it was a 67 but my brother has a 68 cab and chassis one ton. i also can get a 96 powerstroke that has a great motor in it for 1500 bucks. but i also have been thinking of putting a 98 12 valve in it. i have some experience with powerstrokes and i could do everything myself. so my real question is if you were in my shoes what would you do?

Lange503 12-28-2010 09:05 PM

depends on what your goals are really, the 12 valve might be cheaper if your are going for big power, but the powerstroke is still a damn good motor and can still be done up easily

i'm kind of biased but i've driven a lot of 7.3s and it seems to me there a little bit more reliable

also need advice on a tranny once i decide on a motor

dont get me wrong i love my 7.3, a 12 valve would just be more simple to put in there seems how there isn't much wiring

I like the 7.3 just fine but is no way more reliable than a 12v.

i've splurged for the 12v thanks for the advice guys. now how about a tranny?

superduty_5.9 01-02-2011 10:09 PM

47rh and no adapters.

cowboyjohnson 01-07-2011 08:07 PM

i'm not that familiar with that tranny but i know i would rather have a standard

superduty_5.9 01-07-2011 09:54 PM

Nv4500 is a 5-speed from a 3/4 to a 1 ton.
