the zf will be cheaper and just as tough or better than the nv4500. why not use the zf 6 speed

even if you could get a zf6 cheaper, you still have to buy a $700 adaptor plate, which is going to offset any kind of deal you could get on one. I got a pretty good deal on my NV.

unfortunatly i have found adaptors for the NV to the Ford 205 are about 500 bucks so now i have to see if i can use the input from a dodge 205 in my ford 205 so i can skip the adaptor.

Your truck was mounted for a ZF5? If its an F150 it should have had a M5OD if I'm not mistaken. In my 94 F150, to get the NV4500 in there, I had to cut the floor back about 4 or 5 inched to where the shifter could come through, then patched up the front with a metal plate. For the crossmember I just modified the factory one (moved it back about 4 inches) and used it.

well truthfully i got it with a AOD but i prefer stick shift and got a free zf5 but it all out and sold it as a whole piece motor tranny and transfercase. so i still had the custom mounts that i put in when i put the zf5 in which i cut the hole 3 1/2 inches from where a stock would be cuz my buddy got his 87 stock and we measured. so you think im in the clear to match the same mounts up?

The dodge 205 uses a large male 29 spline on the Np205 with a coupler sleeve, and an adapter to convert the 'classic' GM/Dodge NP205 pattern to a round pattern.

If you want to marry an NV4500 and NP205 directly, look at the GM 32-spline route. Could make for a real oddball collection of parts, but I don't know what you've got kicking around ;)

so it had an AOD, and you switched in a ZF5? and you sold the old ZF5 all in one with your old engine and t-case? Is that right?

so if this the case, you no longer have the ZF5. My guess is more than likely to mount it (ZF5) behind the Cummins, you're going to have to move the tranny back, and it will change up your mounting situation. Its possible to do though, u would most likely just have to move your crossmember back a little. But again, and I know I say this alot, be prepared to spend about $700 for an adapter plate if you use the ZF5.

If you no longer have your ZF5, find a donor truck with Cummins and NV4500 and all. You can usually find some good deals on these. It isnt too hard to mount the NV back there.
