Dang, I'm doing the swap into my 75 f250 with 44 front 60 rear.. with 4.11s.... :humm: i wonder what my top speed will be?

cummins bronco 09-21-2011 06:08 PM

well mine hasn't faired too well!
first time out wheeling and i managed to break both axles!
oops, guess thats what you get for too much torque, a locker, ceramic clutch and 35s in a hole.
good thing i have a Dana 60 waiting to go in.

With 35s on it, assuming a 1:1 trans ratio, you'll cruise at 60mph at 2400 rpm, and top out at 80mph at 3200 rpm. I think?

So far so good, but I rarely beat it up. If I was doing serious pulling with it, I'm sure the 44 would have issues.. My biggest complaint with the reverse cut gears in the 44 is the non-availability of gears such as 3.00s.. The 3.50s that are in it are alright, but the motor surely doesn't need any help moving this truck, and I could get better fuel mileage with 3.00s. Oh well.

I have a 1979 Bronco "California Edition" that had 3.00's front and rear in it (D44 and 9-inch)...unless I counted wrong :humm:

Cummins Bronco, what axles did you break? A 44 and a 9?

I think a Geatrag 360 is .77:1 in 5th gear, so I should be fine. Hopefully I don't need to go with taller gears, like 4.88s or something

i broke both the axles in the dana 44 front:argh:

i definately wouldn't go lower than 4.11s thats what i had in my bronco and switched to 3.55s with a ZF-5.

i have a sterling 10.25 in the back, i don't think i could break that thing if i tried, although the factory posi bit the dust.
