6.0 to 7.3 swap
i have the chance to buy a 2004 dually with the 6.0,smoking like crazy
i have a 99 e450 bus with the powerstroke in it... runs and drives fantastic, how hard is it to install the 7.3 in place of the 6.0?? how much wiring? |
Seems like it would be alot easier to fix the 6.0.....what color smoke is the 6.0 making?at an idle?
|
not sure on color...the owner states that the dealer told him it needed 6 injectors and a turbo...
it has 200k on it.. |

From my angle, a 7.3 in place of a 6.0 would be about the equivalent of a 350 in a honda, mounts, harness, trans, the whole 9.. I'll almost put money on the fact that the 6.0 has a blown head gasket, common really, but still no fun.. Still however, I would have to agree with it being more sanity efficient to go with fixxing the 6.0, but dont see the injectors/turbo as being your big problem with it.

Why would you want to downgrade to the 7.3? Fix the 6.0
|
the 7.3 may be older, but i wouldn't really call it a downgrade. the 7.3s are bullet proof, the 6.0s, not so much, wanting to swap them in my mind is understandable, even if not so easily feasible.

i agree with the 6.0 its such a peice of shit once problems start...my grandpas truck is the worst year the 2004 and we replaced head gaskets 5 times and rebuilt turbo 3 times and still were looking to put a 7.3 in it.... if u do rebuild the 6.o put arp head studds in.
:nope: |
