My Bronco cummins conversion (work in progress)
6 Attachment(s)
well i have some spare time today, hanging out with my youngest, so i thought i would post up my project.
it is a 1978 Ford Bronco and it is getting a 92 rotary pump Cummins. before- with the brand new built 460 and C-6 Attachment 48254 Attachment 48255 out with the old Attachment 48256 and in with the new Attachment 48257 ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- so my plan was originally to use the dodge overdrive auto and a Np 241 transfercase, but after getting some mock up pieces i found out that the combo, especially with the slip yolk on the transfer case, was way to long. so luckily i found an adaptor to use a ZF-5 transmission and then i could use my NP 205 transfer case. so it came with a ceramic Southbend clutch and flywheel and the starter. it ended up being almost 16 inches shorter in overall length and it made the parts interchange much easier. Attachment 48258 ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- just finished the tranny crossmember Attachment 48259 ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- unfortunatly i don't have as much time as i would like to work on it and i am bad for just not bothering to take picks while i am working as usually i am working solo, but i will try to update as i can. let me know what you think! |
ithink thats gonna be a cool rig keep us updated on your progress :yeah:
|
Looking good! I like it! :tu:
|
the 460 run on propane or something cause thats def not a regular carb
|
yeah it was on propane, it is turning out to be a real pain too, because when i put the tanks in i took out the fuel tank and all the straps and pick up, and i threw them all out.
didn't get as much done this weekend as i would have liked, cross member is in and bolted up, now i have to get my driveshafts done and exhaust done. |
hehe nice u could save one of those tanks for propane injection on the bright side:tu:
it prolly better to have a nice clean tank to start with anyway im sure they have them on lmc |
NICE work.

i was planning on buying a new tank anyway, but it is all the little bits and pieces that are a pain to find, luckily my brother just told me he is parting out his Bronco, so that is no longer a problem!:tu:
well got a few more things done in the last few days figured out my hydaulic clutch, got the pedal and mount done and the master mounted and the firewall reinforced. just have to run the line and that will be done. mounted the turbo (hx35) and the exhaust brake (BD) it is going to be a tight fit for the exhaust, my starter is on the same side. hoping to get the exhaust done and the front clip back on and maybe even the rear driveshaft shortened and get started on the fuel system this weekend.:s: i will try and get some more pics up soon. |
What are you doing with the propane setup?
|
also see a 8 lug spindle swap on it too. granite the front it still a 44 but better than nuttin.
