What power steering pump are you using? Would you have clearance issues with the pump and the stock steering box? I am going to do the drop pitman arm to clear the pan.

I used a pump off a Ford Probe that has a remote reservoir. I did this so I could mount the A/C compressor where the stock Benz pump was. It fit with plenty of clearance, even with the stock steering box. I sold it almost three years ago, as far as I know it's still going strong!

hello, I'm supper late to this build but if you can remember , did you have to balance the torque converter since you changed it to your plan? since then is there anything you would do differently? do you still have this build and are you still driving it?

Hi, no I didn't have to do any balancing because I used the benz flywheel and a stock GM converter. The only piece that was modified was the benz converter that I cut the back half off to use as an adapter between the two. It was neutral balanced. If I had to do it over again I would have gone with the AW4, it is a much better trans than the GM unit. No I don't have the jeep anymore. I have since built an XJ with a Kubota V2203 mated to the AW4 and it is a much better combo.

Thanks for that. Now with cutting the mercedes torque converter, did you cut it at the first seam from the engine side?

Also how did you mount the starter, with the bolts under the bell housing of the 700r4? if so, how about having to change a starter?

Ya sounds about right on the converter, I finished it off on the lathe to the diameter that suited the GM tq. conv. I think the starter issue wasn't too bad, the bottom of the GM trans is open enough to allow access to the bolts, barely.

700r4 to om617 adapter plate

hello, i know this is a later request but did you happen to make a second adapter plate for this application? if so how much would you take for it?
