ya make sure you check laws they wouldnt let my buddy do a k1500 cummins diesel swap why i couldnt tell you but it doesnt hurt to check im in CA too. as for parts, send me an email at tltruckparts@hotmail.com

cumminsblazer 01-27-2010 12:24 AM

what year was the k1500 and what year was the cummins and i will send u a email

tltruckparts 01-27-2010 12:27 AM

it was a 93 k1500 and it didnt matter what year the engine was. it wasnt a matter of newer cars and older engines. it was a matter or DOT dafety stuff i believe. and my buddy todd who did a p pump cummins in a 91 chevy 1 ton had his refereed and it cost him just shy of 1000 bucks all said and done. itd almost be worth finding a beat up diesel one and just using the vin then itd be cheaper and no headache

cumminsblazer 01-27-2010 12:35 AM

lol the diesel blazer is like gold to alot of people lol i wouldnt want a 6.2 slow ha ha but the vins would be nice

tltruckparts 01-27-2010 12:58 AM

i know of like 4 older diesel jimmys and blazers around here. ill keep an eye out for you. i see em running and whatnot all the time for like 1000 bucks or cheaper

cumminsblazer 01-27-2010 01:11 AM

or even pre 75 vins

First off, very cool conversion.
I had no problems whatsoever changing my title over to diesel on my 1990 Suburban after the conversion. Besides, some K5 Blazers had the 6.2 diesel so it can be done. If you have any problems with regards to this, PM me and I can steer you in the right direction.

just do some reading on it, everyone that has done these swaps will agree that it wont hold up on a dana 44 or stock springs. you are going to need to reinforce your steering box on the frame as theyre already prone to cracking the frame. the weight of the cummins will make it that much worse.

you are probably going to need crossover steering as well if you dont already have it from lifting your truck.

and again id be worried about frame strength on a short box 1/2 ton truck. these motors produce massive amounts of torque, and can twist your frame if you get on it. just some advice for you

I believe the 1/2 ton frame is identical to the 3/4 ton frame on 73-87 trucks. However, the 1 ton frame is a bit taller in some areas.

Reinforcing the steering box area of the frame would be a good idea. They were prone to cracking especially when lifted or oversize tires were fitted. There are kits available such as the following:
Steering Box Gusset Kit
