Worth the headaches?

:humm::humm::humm::humm:I have a 2006 Chev K-1500 ext cab short bed, have a 60 for the front, and 14 bolt for the rear. It has a 5.3 gasser and auto tranny. I also have a 1996 ram 2500 with a great runnin 12v. I want the 12v in the chev, is it worth the headaches, and how much would it cost to see the conversion done right?

Of course it's worth the headaches. I assume you are going to swap out the 4l60E for at least a 4L80E?

not that hard just do it

Hell yeah. 12 valve + built 4L80E (will obviously need a diesel specific torque converter). Will the stock GM transfer case like all of that torque?? Throw a Gear Venders Overdrive in with a tall gear set and have a killer 30mpg or better truck!!

if its already straight axled its not bad but doing it all at the same time like ive done is quite the time consuming project. make sure you check local laws first in alot of states you cant put a diesel in a 1/2 ton truck (at least thats what im told in california)

If it were me, I'd swap in a 271 transfer case as well.

Looking for any pointers, and thankful for any help. Working on setting up engine with twins, and all right stuff to get about 750-800 to the rear wheels. I want it to still be very streetable but be able to tug a little, and race a little at the same time. No competitions, just for my own poops ang giggles. Dont know what tranny, t-case combo yet, so any input is great. When this starts, I want to do this right. Just welcomed our first baby girl into the world, and think it would be great to keep this rig for her first ride. It will make all the boys cry.
