ANYONE DONE A PERKINS CONVERSION?

I've recently acquired a couple of 4 cyl Perkins diesels salvaged from 400 amp portable welders. One had a fresh rebuild shortly before the welder died but it's been sitting for a couple of years. Both turn freely and were full of oil and anti freeze when "parked". I know some early Rangers had perkins in them but has anyone heard of someone putting one in a full sized half ton like a Ford f-150? Would this be a worthwhile project?

I think a half ton truck would be a lil too much for the Parkins

maybe like a ranger would be a better fit ..........good milage too

there is a guy on Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource - Cummins - Home that put a 6cyl perkins into a 198* something ford 1 ton, he done a great job on it, worthwhile taking a look at

Years ago I put a 6 cyl perkins out of a 510 massey combine in a ford econoline van.We built a adapter for the c-6 and a hub adapter for the crankshaft. After several trys to get it centered right it worked okay. The engine shook worse than a 4bt and was only in the 16 to 18 mpg gallon range,This was after a turbo and fuel tuning.I wasnt that impressed and it got out ran by a isuzu we put in a 3/4 ton ford pu with the same trans/gear combination
