non wastegated diesel turbos are sexy :humm: I'll have to keep them in mind, it looks like a good fit. Only real concern i have is using a 600 hp capable turbo on a 300 hp engine sounds like it would have it very low in its efficiency and probably pretty laggy too. Just thoughts, no numbers to back that up.

It's power band is higher and produces boost slower but accelerates quicker

Got the burb going, kinda nice having some comforts back lol. The s10 is going to hold the trailer down for a bit which will be nice. Kinda stressful driving a new project everyday even if it never let me down :w2:.

Brought the next toy home 1981 aquamarine 300sd with a turbo 617 diesel. s10 has been doing great on daily duty, took it wheeling the other day and beat the brakes off of it. drove it to work the next day. Having three diesels leads to plugging the wrong one in every now and then and i have discovered the s10 doesnt start nearly as well with that mechanical pump as the suburban does with the electronic pump.

The mercedes started out with 4 year old diesel since it has been sitting so its cold-start ability is still improving. So far i have had to adjust the bands in the transmission, adjust the vacuum modulator so it shifts right, turn up the delivery valves (more fuel), adjust ALDA all the way out so it fuels pre-boost, bypassed boost limiting solenoid to prevent it intervening in my shenanigans, advanced pump timing, rebuilt valve body/new fluid, changed oil/filter, fuel filters, ordered a new air filter, and blew a tire on the way home from the shop. After i get a few cosmetic issues sorted out the back plate is coming off of this pump and is getting set to race mode :bat:.

I love my DB2's but a DS4 will almost always out start them. This is why I don't jump on the db2 swap band wagon.

I can back that up 100% The suburban always starts well and smokes less (sometimes substantially less) than the s10 with the mechanical pump does. s10 will misfire for a while after starting while the suburban levels out quickly. They are night and day different during cold starts below 30*. After they are running though the differences narrow quite a bit. both hot start the same, idle the same, accelerate smoothly. I believe the cold start difference comes down to the electronic pump being able to advance timing furthur, if i dont run the cold start advance in the s10 it is a absolute nightmare to start/smokes like crazy.
