Will a 3000 be too high? Might as well get it right before I drop mine in. The transmission came out of an S10, so should be close to a 2000 stall from the factory. Right now I'm running stock tires and wheels, but a 4" lift kit is in the future before I drop the motor in, with the winch and heavy motor will probably work out to be around 2.5-3" and I belive my present axle is around a 3.75.

mmm that's who I called " FTI performance" . right ? ..
they recommended , unless I went with a custom made TC to use 2000 . what I was told was that with the stock engine and trany combo the stall rate would be higher then 2000 stated . should stall around 2300. from what I could tell last weekend she was locking up right around 22 to 2400 if my tach is working right . she also by the way shifted very nice using your numbers thank you very much for the write up and in put . |

Also remember stall speed is determined by many many factors; weight, boost, gearing, tire size. With the super pump I have now I'm stalling at 150-200rpm higher. YMMV. I try get people as close as I can though.

ha no issues .
we see how things work and then go from there .thanks for the in put |
I believe I will just leave mine where its at then, I've been reading on the Mercedes forums the peak hp is at 4000-4500 rpm on these engines, and they run 80 mph all day with 3.08 gearing. Of course they have shorter tires, but a heavier vehicle. I do mostly mountain driving, so its going to be in lower gears most of the time anyhow. Very seldom get on the interstate, and it's not a daily driver.

I found this on the cars,
The 1985 does have a higher stall speed converter installed in from the factory. '85 is around 2400 - 2700 RPMs and the previous years 1450 - 1650 RPMs. . |
