in short, will have to visially inspect the wires for chafing, looseness, bad connection, bad ground.

every square inch of it. starting at the FICM and working your way out to the injectors.

good chatting on the phone with ya, take it easy and keep it simple :tu:, electrical problems can be a real booger

Same to you 2500, a real pleasure and again THANK YOU.

We have checked rechecked and still coming up with the P0201 and P0207. I was able to clear codes but those two kept popping back.

P0204 and P0206 cleared. But then came back after awhile. My friends and I are tossing in the towel. Gonna have to get a tow and send off to a competent diesel mechanic.

What a bummer.......

Is it possible that the FICM went bad or needs to be reprogramed?

I will post the results of their findings.

if the FICM is bad you can easily swap one out from a simmilar 01-04 duramax LB7 motor.

maybe find a buddy with a simmilar truck and try it out. but two codes left? hmm well thats progress. :humm:

it could be a few things, an injector that is shorted out, bad FICM, the injector wire harness grounding out/shorting out (rare).

the two gang connectors on the driver side valve cover, disconnect and re connect if you havent, and make sure all the pins are visible.

whats happening is the ficm notices something wront in the circut, and shutd down those four to keep it from causing dammage to the computer.

if you feel like wasting 8 hours you can pull the top valve cover off and re inspect the whole shebang and the wires. pain in the butt yeah but that would be my last option.

....progress, Yes but then returned. then went away, then came back etc....

So I see where the electrical comes into play but I have to get the truck back on the road pronto. After wrenching for 28 hours on it since friday afternoon, I know that its time to seek professional help.

Again I can't thank you enough for your time!!!

Rick (<--Daves buddy and wrencher through this whole experiance)

if i had to make a bet it would be the FICM goign bad. i would start there, and also really look hard at the two gang connectors on the driver side and make sure that all the pins are all the way in.

i do have two good FICM's laying around at home.

3500 thank you, we (3 other shadetree'rs) ran through the harnesses, wires etc... several times in the past few hours. We all have families and work tomorrow, so Dave made the ultimate decision to have it taken to a pro.

The damn thing about it is the truck idles and sounds great. Its just slow to hit the 1800 RPM cut off on acceleration (in park). Or if it is driven it just doesn't have the power to get out of its own way.

On a personal note, if you ever but a Jag and it has problems, keep my number, I (we) owe you BIG time!!!!

3500 you are truly an asset to this forum!!!!! The members here are VERY lucky to have a guy like yourself blessing it (and them)!!!

Cheers its beer time....finally

Ok so alittle update:

The truck was towed to an independent on Monday, where they have diagnosed the wire harness from the main has a short. The new wire harness is due in tomorrow and should be installed in the next day or so.

2500HeavyDuty, I gave Dave your number for one of your replacement harnesses but he opt'ed for new...why I do not know.

The indy still has yet to replace the water pump as of yet as well.....

I will post if indeed the harness was bad.
