just got a call from dealer and they are pulling my valve covers due to icp code. what is icp
ICP is injection control pressure sensor. It tells the ECM what the high pressure system is putting out. It could be a bad HPOP (high pressure oil pump) or IPR (injection pressure regulator) valve causing the bad ICP reading.

thats what I thought we will see when they call in the a.m. how hard are they to swap out? i might buy aftermarket and tow it home and do myself :humm:
I haven't worked on the 6.0. On the 7.3 all of the parts are on top of the engine but on the 6.0 from what I have heard the HPOP is inside somewhere so I don't know how hard that would be.
hpop is bad!! they want $3000 to replace it. tow truck is going to pick it up and bring it home i will do it my damn self for that much
The only aftermarket HPOP system I know of for a 6.0 is Bob @ Dieselsite's system. Think I may have heard of Elite diesel havin something too though.
And your HPOP is under the turbo, on the back passenger side of the engine, IIRC. |
The HPOP is under the turbo, rear of the motor. You will need to pull the turbo to get to the cast iron cover, then pull the cover. There is a decent amount of labor involved, but by no means impossible for the shade tree mechanic.
PM on the way for the HPOP and all needed gaskets. |
Updates??
waiting on parts apperantly nobody here in wa. stocks them. still looking for a hpop :c:
