If yer not over heating I would just clear them and see if they come back :humm:

wildbill 11-19-2009 07:42 AM

4 Attachment(s)
P0480 = Fan clutch
Possible Causes:
FAN CLUTCH
WIRE HARNESS DAMAGED
OPEN FAN CLUTCH (K160) DRIVER CIRCUIT
(K160) DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (K690) RETURN CIRCUIT
(K160) DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY NEGATIVE
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
ECM

P1652 = J1850 Short to ground
Possible Causes:
ECM
(D25) J1850 SHORTED
COMMUNICATION

So it's possible the ECM is bad. Still under warranty??

CumminsTurbo22 11-19-2009 09:50 PM

No warranty... i cleared the codes and havent seen nothin yet, ill see 2mrw if it pops up again, No CEL light just the code when i do the key cycle. if it does, ill go through your post bill. Thanks guys
Nick

Sounds like a small electrical gremlin. If it was the ECM, CEL would be on all the time, along with a funky running truck. Code popped up, but cleared the CEL itself. So what ever happened, it fixed itself. Just for stored codes now is all.

CumminsTurbo22 11-25-2009 07:00 AM

ok well just getting the p0480 code still, cleared it and it stayed off a few days. then checked the codes again and it poped up. Ill look for harness to see if the wires were cut.

I do have another problem as well, my speedo is sticking. could it be dirty inside? looks clean but maybe the last owner was a smoker and the gunk is affecting the needle. any ideas?

wildbill 11-25-2009 04:03 PM

It's sealed pretty tight. Only thing I can think of is a faulty ECM.

CumminsTurbo22 12-07-2009 12:44 PM

srry been working the xmas tree lot from morning to late night, i unplugged it and cleaned it out and still have it. but no CEL, just when i do the key trick. IDK it doesnt really bother me but would like to know why the hell its on and why my LAMP OUT light is on and has been covered with black tape inside the glass, im thinking it shorted out from the 5th wheel harness connection he hooked up.

wildbill 12-07-2009 12:53 PM

What year truck is this on?? 06's don't have the lamp out light option.

CumminsTurbo22 12-08-2009 05:40 PM

04

wildbill 12-09-2009 12:23 PM

Fix the harness connection and see if that helps the lamp out light. If not, check all the lamps, inside and out.

ok it was the fifth wheel harness. he hardwired it into the brake lights, something was loose, no more light. but know im in the garage tinkering around with other codes i found. (yeaaahhh:dang:) ill post up if i have problems.

ok just cleared the codes and everything went away. (hopefully for good) but my speedo gauge is still sticking. i tore it out today, opened it up cleaned everything, even connections. but still refuses to unstick. Its only accurate when i tap on the glass at a crusing speed. someone told me it could be a bad servo? but it looks like all electronic to me. idk. any ideas?

the bus would probably have a 7.3L powerstroke in it so it'd probably be broken down too

wildbill 12-15-2009 11:18 PM

Look at the speed sensor on top of the rear end. Connection probably needs to be cleaned.

CumminsTurbo22 12-16-2009 06:32 PM

ok cleaned that, still doing it. where is this servo i heard of? is it built inside the dash? i found nothing when i ripped it apart. how about the sensor itself? do i need to open up the diff to get the sensor out?

gradyc 12-16-2009 11:23 PM

Most of the speed sensors are removable from the4 outside of the differential.

CumminsTurbo22 12-19-2009 12:10 PM

im still stuck bill. id did everything i could (Cleaning wise) i think i need to order the new sensor thats in the diff and try that. but that will be after xmas. unless you have another idea.
Im always open to ideas!

wildbill 12-19-2009 12:39 PM

That or it could be an ECM problem.

wildbill 12-24-2009 08:38 PM
