99 f-350 or 450 shuttle bus help

Hey all I am new to this but I am trying to help out the band I am with on getting our shuttle bus up and running and i am no diesel mechanic but can work on them to a point its sounds to me like its sucking air in from some where but you can tell me what you think.

Ok i started it for the first time sense we had it (about three months) and the battery was weak so I put my optima in it and started rite up little chug to it but smoothed out. The person we bought it off of said a mechanic told him it needed all 8 injectors replaced and I don't know for sure if thats what it needs. But you start it and it would run for maybe 40 minutes at idle and then die. Well now I can't even start it. It tries to start but acts like its not getting any fuel but I can smell plenty. I think there is an air leak some where in the fuel delivery system but can't be sure where. Any Idea's what else it could be.

Thanks and yes I am new here

:humm: i think maybe it might be the injector wireing harness alot of guys have problems with them on the 7.3 strokers

It may be your Crank Positioning Sensor

Ok. Do you have any ability to check and clear codes? If not, you can get a cost effective code reader at the auto parts store that will also clear the codes.

Oil level? Is it low? Are you getting oil pressure while cranking?

Feel free to give me a call to speed things up if you need.

i haven't checked the codes yet but i will be soon , oil level is good pressure is fine BUT the oil sending unit is bad and makes the guage flip all over the place a lot of times slow process don't have a lot of time to work on it rite now.

Hey Ford Guys do you think this is the Crank Positioning Sensor ?

possibly a cam sensor. What I have found on a lot of busses/350 cab & chassis and bigger is the fuel sending unit in the tank has 2 little cone filters inside the canister. These two filters usually clog up, lets the truck run fine for a little while then it will start to stumble, have low power, blue smoke with a strong smell of unburnt fuel and possible die with a hard start problem. Take the fuel filter out and look in the bottom of the filter housing. If there is any rust looking material in the bottom of the housing, I would start by draining/cleaning the tank, fuel lines and removing the cone filters in the canister and cleaning them as well. Get a scanner on it and let us know what codes you recieve. I never replace a cam sensor unless it has both codes present, a code for intermittent failure and an actual cam fault code. The intermittent code can be thrown just from the truck dying and it not being a cam sensor problem.
Update us when you can.

Also if you can get a scanner on it that will let you read ICP while cranking on it, that would help too. Hard to diagnose anything without a scanner anymore.

Thanks for the Info !!
