Truck shaking from stop need help!
Hey guys! Just joined, but long time reader. Need some help
I just bought a 2004 f250 ex cab 6.0. When coming from a stop My truck vibrates from 5 to 20 mph. The truck has a lift with 37 and Thought the vibration was the tires but its not. Seems to be coming From drivetrain I think. Checked oil in rear diff and its good. Not sure if U-joints would do this? It's only in 1 and beginning of 2 gear. I'm stumped any help would be awesome! Could it be axle wrap? How about some info about What it feels like and stuff. It does not shake coming to a Stop that's why I believe it's got to be somethig in the drivetrain. |
See if there's play in the ujoints. They can cause vibration. Maybe wrong angle of the shaft itself

Does the truck have to be jacked up to check
For play in driveshaft? If not then there is no play But the ujoints look like the original and I probably Should replace them anyways. I'm just hoping its not tranny Or rear diff. |
No. Leave truck in park and try to rotate shaft back and forth it won't be easy to move back n forth

No play in driveshaft. Could it be carrier bearing?
Not sure how to tell if that's bad there's no play either But whatever it is shakes the whole truck 1st to 2nd gear Then calms down. Driving me crazy because I don't want to screw Anything up you know? |
Could be carrier. I'm not a drive line guru. Csipd or muddub will chime in and tell you shortly

The carrier will be hot after driving, bad bearing no grease what ever the reason, or and the rubber around it will be seperating or broke, or like on my wifes , the guy who put the driveshaft back in didn't tighten the bolts vibrated under any torque.

I'm going to try to shim it tomorrow. Ill let
You guys know how it turns out. |
I have seen motor and tran mounts cause vibration under a load, which starting off through first and second gear would put the drive line under load. But with the truck being lifted some one may not have tightned something all the way or may have not installed somthing right. Good luck

The u joint may be seized, I've seen it a hundred times. Especially the middle if you have a 2 piece shaft. Look for small rust marks coming from the caps, and if in doubt pull the rear u joint out of the yoke and make sure they move freely in all directions.
