Diesel Bombers - Newbie to the almighty 12v

Hi all! My name is Jeremy and I'm an avid reader of the forums; trying to soak up what I can and learn from those who know better than I. I have had a couple of Dodge 24v trucks before, but I got the bug to get into a 12v. I found a beautiful 1995 xcab lb 4x4 2500 in CA that needs a tranny rebuild for $3800. The motor and pump are completely stock. I ordered a 4k GSK, 60lb springs, KDP kit, #100 fuel plate, and a boost elbow. I also figure the truck will need some AFC tuning and a timing adjustment. I am eager to dig into this thing, but I'm a little skidish about doing these things by myself for the first time simply from reading online help. :humm:
I'm in Petaluma, CA (40m north of SF) and would be happy to pay anyone who is close enough to me for some help and guidance through it all.
