Totally Stock '98 Cummings 12 Valve
 

I have a bone stock '98 Ram 2500 (12 Valve). I would like to get some more power out of it without breaking the bank.
I heard upgrading the intake is a good place to start. Any input on products would be of great help.
At the moment I would like to get just a little more power off the line and a little help towing.

Don't waste money on intakes! You need to find someone who knows these injection pumps and have it tuned. The AFC and fuel plate adjustments will do wonders!
Also I suggest a gov. spring kit, so it can rev a little higher.
Fresh air and fuel filters for a start. Also you will need a boost elbow, on the turbo for more boost when fuel is added.

a good open air filter is a great place to start. Then you can do some adjusting of the fuel plate, and star wheel. But you need to get the killer dowel pin dealt with.

I have owned this truck for 1 1/2 years now and still learning about it.
I have a toy hauler that weighs 7400 Ibs dry, and it would be nice to have a little more power off the line.
I will look into having the injection pump tuned.

I'm trying to get the hex head bolt off for the star wheel, but it seems to be tightened by the hand of god. Anyways to help me get it off? Which way i need to turn the the bolt to get it off? Thanks!

counterclockwise to get the big allen plug out. Try not to lose the copper washer, too, if you can avoid it. that thing's torqued a little, but, paint-sealed. once you crack the paint it should come right out.

Alright, I'll try again, but damn is that plug on there. I've broke the paint seal of the top and around the showing part of the plug. I've kinda twisted the Allen wrench trying to get that plug out. So, might need a new Allen wrench.
