Joinin' The Chevy Ranks

So I think I might be joining you guys over here soon. I am going to look at an 03 4dr drw 4x4 later today. anything I should be on the look out for besides the injector problem?

TCU Fan 01-05-2008 11:10 AM

03 has a loose passenger seat that was common, intermediate steering shaft clunk. I am sure there are things I am leaving out but nothing major. Injectors of course you mentioned.

Great engine, great look.

Blue01F250 01-05-2008 11:32 AM

Good luck chatting with the salesman! We want pics ASAP if you pick the truck up! hehe

Sea97Stroker 01-05-2008 11:38 AM

Good Luck!!!

That is going to be the hard part considering it is the beginning of the year. HOPEFULLY for him they liquidated there used car inventory at the end of the year and need to re stock it.

Look for worn idler and pitman arms and would suggest replacing them with good GM parts and then adding Cognito braces to keep the new set good for a long time.

Also, check for a any leakage on the transfercase. It will look like a small pinhole on the rear of the case on the passenger side.

Also, check for worn front wheel/hub bearings, by lifting up the front of the truck and grabing the tire at the 12 and 6 oclock position and try to rock it back and forth.

About the only common other problems that I know of.

The dreaded pump rub. Being an 03 its probably getting close to having the issue or its already happened and been repaired. Probably wasnt done right though. :w2:

2500HeavyDuty 01-05-2008 04:56 PM

GO ahead and one of the first mods should be the front end (Sleeves, Center link, and Braces) and swiss cheezing the air box. I got a quad tuner that im going to sell if your interested.

toy4xchris 01-05-2008 05:03 PM

well she is mine get to pick her up either tomorrow or monday when my bank gets final approval on my loan I got 10,000 for my trade and so i got it for about 19,000 after the trade. fully loaded and well sorry to you chevy fans it doesnt have enough power so as soon as I can ditch the dodge its gettin a box intake and exhaust then maybe it will be driveable. lol

TCU Fan 01-05-2008 05:22 PM

Too bad, I just go rid on exhaust and intake for a LB7. You will not be disappointed, that is the last GM diesel that can actually here. The turbo whine is real nice with an intake for sure.

Congrats on getting the new (to you) truck.

you can here the turbo whine on my 06 pretty good, but that was after straight piping the exhaust.

DangerousDuramax 01-05-2008 05:41 PM

Everyone says mine sounds like a jet plane. Of course it didnt do that stock. :)

2500HeavyDuty 01-05-2008 05:59 PM

I was referring to the engine itself, all the other stuff sounds real cool on all of them except for the LMM. It is still silent.

toy4xchris 01-05-2008 06:04 PM

thanks man I am pretty happy feel like a lil kid on xmas lol cant wait to get it home just talked to a friend who has a corp account with 4wheel parts and started planning things like a leveling kit to get rid of those little tires and of course the box intake and exhaust now to get rid of the ole dodge.

Maybe consider another source for parts. If you are going to do suspension things stay away from Pro Comp. Use Cognito, CST or RCD. Cognito make the best leveling kit for these trucks.

toy4xchris 01-05-2008 06:15 PM

trust me I know they suck and suspension will be a good company no bs pro comp crap. but to get other fun stuff at his price is nice either that or I will call up a friend that helped me with the dodge parts or spend sometime sweet talkin vendors on here haha.

TCU Fan 01-05-2008 06:20 PM

We have some of the best supporting vendors here.

toy4xchris 01-05-2008 06:34 PM

yes we do I have dealt with a few and no complaints.

shortmansyndrome 01-05-2008 07:08 PM

Congrats on the new rig. :U:

I think they did good by me I have to go in and get the keyless entry fixed this week cuz it dont work other than that I am a happy camper

DangerousDuramax 01-06-2008 05:52 PM

Looks good brother!!! Try changing out the battery in the key fob. They usually only last about a year.

TCU Fan 01-06-2008 06:02 PM

I have not seen those 2 tone seats before except in the SS package of the 1500's. Are the rear seats the same.

DangerousDuramax 01-06-2008 06:05 PM

Looks like it had an interior conversion. The entire interior is two tone. I kinda like it.
