is there a way to upgrade power steering?

it sux that when u brake and turn u lose power steering.everytime i slow down and turn into a parking lot the power defaults to the brakes and i get armstrong steering. just a gm oversight on these trucks i know but is there a fix out there??dual hyd pumps?aftermarket pump and cooler?overdrive pulley? thanks

i believe you're reffering to the hydroboost brakes. hmm somebody might make a kit but you're supposed to brake then turn. you're not supposed to brake through a turn. i'd leave it the way it is but if ya wanna do it you're way i guess they might. i know they make conversions to hydro boost for older trucks but its still the wrong way

I've never heard not to brake while turning, if you think about it it would be kinda hard not to brake while turning. I have heard not to shift while turning, never really understood why though. Maybe they put this info out for drivers who are short on talent.:c:

You know I shift while into a turn. It's kinda fun to whip it sideways. And sometimes to give it that extra power coming out of the turn. But thats only in an area, with no other vehicles, and no innocent Property, or bystanders could get hurt.

I am not familiar with the GM hydroboost unit but I wonder if your pump is weak, my son in law has a 06 Duramax I'm gonna ask him if his does the same thing. :c:

its a racing thing really. brake before. accelerate through. the cars and trucks tend to push when you brake in a turn. thats why we brake first and accel through

tiremann9669 12-20-2010 03:17 AM

Not sure where you race, but stock cars brake into the corner and accelerate off, and sorry to the OP that this is way off track. No pun intended :s:

thats a banked turn and when they brake the cars do push if they brake hard at all. on street pavement it works trust me. speed into a semi sharp turn and brake through it. then take the same turn and brake before and accelerate through. you'll notice the difference. if you don't then you weren't goin fast enough. the idea is amplified by speed
