Not hardly. Everyone says that about the down pipe, and 100* for the cat delete and 100* for an aftermarket muffler and 50* if you block the EGR, but it's all 'hear-say' and 'watching the guage'. If it was true then my truck would be runing under 1000* EGTs at max load and it doesn't.

Facts are facts and the only way to do it is by dataloging identical runs (and even that is not 100% accurate). I've done a LOT of testing and data loging for EGTs and after everything I've done to my exhaust, I've only dropped ~230* total (pre-turbo reading) at 100% engine load sustained for miles. The down pipe and cat delete are only good for about 50* total under max load conditions. This is what I was expecting and is great in the over all scheam of things, because now my max EGTs are 1230* at 100% load. This is much better than the 1480* it use to be under the same conditions. My goal is 1200 or under, but I think that might be impossible without tampering heavily with the tune. Who knows, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve. :w2:

I haven't totally tested the LBZ mouthpiece yet, so that's next. From what I've seen unloaded, it's might be good for about 10-20* max at full load.

Then, since I have ECTs and EGTs well under control, a set of TxC's Max electric fans should polish off the truck nicely. :U: I suspect another drop in EGTs (not much though) due to the lack of the fan pully no longer having to drive the clutch fan. I know from previous testing the fan clutch sucks 10hp from the engine at freespin (60hp at full lockup). So if I release that energy, it's all now extra pulling power. :choochoo: Soon I'll be able to out dyno you without any tuning being involved. :tttt::c: :ok1:

RTTOYS, I've been thinking about putting electric fans in my truck and yanking the clutch fan. Let me know how it works i pull a gooseneck everyday and the summers in houston are hot.

Texas Rocket:
Normal electric fans like Flex-A-Lite won't pull the CFMs needed to cool our diesels when towing. TxChristopher has had Spawl make him custom fans (to TxC's specs) to attempt to pull the correct amout of CFMs needed when towing. There is a catch, the electrical needed for these fans are outragous and it will require a dual alternator setup (which I already have). We havn't made a good pull yet with the prototype fans due to the outside temps are too cold, it would be cheeting the test (like a lot of people like to do). I should have these installed (hopefully) by the time I make my normal Bandera run, fully loaded in March. I'll be watching EGTs and of course ECTs, not to mention fuel mileage. :5: I expect great things from these. :U:
