Oh they're investigating it enough, they just wont throw one into production :dang:

Well congrats :tu: If Im still hanging around here in about a year Id like to try for a mod position. Im going to try to get premium membership before the months over.

And I was thinkin you could get her one that was really quiet and just tell her it was gas, but then what happens when she actually puts gas in it? lol

I wasn't happy, when she bought her new HONDA ACCORD EXL V6, but it's her car & she'll be driving it

The "quiet" diesels are just using a Benz method of making the engine quieter all while making a more powerful powerband. Basically it injects a teeny tiny bit of diesel in to make ignition and then the rest of the diesel to make the power stroke work. If you inject all the fuel at once then you get that diesel "knock" before it ignites. If you put just a little in the knock is quieter in getting that little bit of fuel lit up and then the additional fuel doesn't knock at all. Its not an environmental or treehugger thing - its for more power and quieter engines.

It's hard to believe how much diesel engine technology has progressed in 10 years. I like the new engines to an extent. Quieter diesels are good and all but, for my money nothing beats the sound of a proper diesel engine. I have owned an 04.5 and 06 dodge and while they are by no means quiet by today's industry standards, but they are still to quiet for my taste. I am currently trying to work a deal with a friend of mine for an 01 dodge. I will gladly let that 24 valve sing to me anytime, with the equipped dual disk accompanying the straight 6 symphony.

i'll take the quieter more powerful more efficient diesel over a "proper diesel" any day :rocking:

I have a radio for sound.

I personaly like the older louder diesel's. The older diesle's were better on fuel. I have owned every diesel ford put in a F series except the 6.4 powestroke. Best on fuel for a ford was a 97 powerstroke.

I have had ever diesel in a dodge except for a 12 valve. I has a 2000,2004,2006,and 2010. Best on fuel was the 2000 Funny each truck got quieter with cleaner emissions and the milage went down.
