Only weak point I'm aware of is that the trans lines leak, usually by 50,000 miles, if not sooner. I don't know why GM can't get a reliable line, but they haven't been willing to do that yet. Yes, they're covered by the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, but not by the 100,000 mile drive train warranty. The 3 lines cost $100 altogether, and it's not too bad a job replacing them if you do mechanical work of any kind. The best thing to do is to take the lines to a shop that does hydraulics and have the rubber part of the line replaced with a removable section, so they can be replaced without removing the 2 metal ends. Of course, once you put quality hydraulic lines, they'll never leak again, which is exactly what you' wanted to start with. All in all, the engine is great and you will NOT regret buying a Duramax. |
Yup...you'll get nothing but love from the Duramax crowd. Once you've had one I doubt you'll go back unless you were areadly a diehard of some kind.
