Engine Codes - Fuel Rail Pressure
 

I am a member of many different diesel sites. Out of all of them your site is the best for finding out what codes our engines are throwing. Thank you for being the most informative.

I am throwing a code for low fuel rail pressure. Can I clean the sensor or what should I try to remedy this myself? With the mods I have it takes a full day to put my truck back to stock to be able to take it into the stealership.

When was the last filter change, and is the code a p0093?

I have a 2007.5 LMM with a Quadzilla Tuner DPF Delte and a 5" turbo back exhaust. I also have a FASS Lift pump with 95 psi. These are the only performance mods that I have done. I run B100 in my truck. I have been making it for 3 1/2 years and haven't had any issues until now. I have 48K on this truck. The code is 0087. I threw 4 of these codes on the way home. The truck computer says the fuel filter still has 60% life left.

I had read that you could clean the sensor and I should have bookmarked it because now I can't find it. What about shimming the sensor? I found an article about this and will go back and read the whole thing later.

The question is - does this sensor control the pressure output or only tells you when it's too low? I bought a set of the factory repair manuals and I guess it's time to crack them open.

you lift pump is set at 95 psi? it should be set around 10-12 psi at idle.

a p0093 code is related to the FPRV popping and the fix for that would be shimming the regulator. It pops open relieve the pressure when it reaches "unsafe" levels. If you had a bad sensor it truck might not even run at all.

a p0087 would be related to the Fuel control actuator on the cp3.

The repair manuals that we bought say that a p0087 is Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low. I will read up on the Fuel Control Actuator? What is a cp3? Our manual doesn't list a p0093 . I was told the FASS lift pump was 95 psi but I could be mistaken. I will have to look for paperwork on this as well.

95 GPM not PSI

I call it Fuel control actuator, But it is also called an FPR or Fuel pressure regulator.

The manual says you have to remove a lot of parts to get to this regulator. As anyone replaced theirs before?
