what is a good towing programmer less than 90 hp and not detectable by the dealer?

Tyler@MPF 07-10-2009 09:01 AM

All tuners that do the delete will be detecable by the dealer. If you are wanting the best towing tuner, the Edge Evo Race is your best bet. It has a built in turbo-brake on level 2. A full exhaust will yield the best mileage and performance gains.

Give me a shoot if you have any questions.

So unless you do the DPF delete you wont see any gains with a module or programmer?

Most of his driving is in town and pulling a trailer or two once or twice a week. He just told me today that he usually can't get 200 miles on a fill up with the 6.0 gasser. The dealer he is talking to told him that he can buy a chip from a certain place and they wouldn't care and it would help his mileage (this makes me believe it is a superchips). Thanks guys

Josh

I have a 09 max and don't get but 13 in town and maybe 16 on hiway

DPF is the Diesel Particle (or Particulate?) Filter.
It filters the SMOKE from the exhaust.

There are pressure sensors at both ends of the DPF.
When the downwind sensor is significantly higher than the front sensor, indicating that the DPF is getting choked up and building too much back pressure then it calls for a REGEN (regeneration).
During the REGEN the system dumps raw fuel down the exhaust to burn off the soot. This also generates a LOT of heat down the exhaust - the main reason for the funny-looking tailpipe extension.

It is a STUPID idea that robs power and wastes fuel - forced on us by the U.S. Gooberment.

listen to the dealer, they will have to void his warranty if he does anything. I get 13-14 everyday. 18-22 freeway, 10-12 towing 8K. that's in a 08 2500 or a 09 dually

Good advice.
As much as I dislike the whole DPF thing, I figure I am (we are) stuck with it until someone comes up with a better, *legal* way to eliminate smoke - and eliminate the need for DPF.:humm:

I have an 08 3500 CC Dually 4x4. Took a tractor to my son in Texas on a 24 ft. Gooseneck and got 10 mpg on an 1150 mile trip. Coming back with empty trailer I got 13mpg. No mods and truck has 10 thousand miles on it. Had an 03 2500 4x4 that got 18.5 mpg on 245's with no mods. Man I miss that truck!
