I think I'm just going to sell the darn thing. I've had it to the dealer for warranty a dozen times and it only has 42k miles. I bought my wife an '02 crew cab short bed with the LB7 and it averages 18.5 stock. Get's a about 21 on the hwy at 75 mph.

what were the issues that you had to take it to the dealer for? the 07 classic is probably the most reliable duramax out there, an lb7 will have injector issues unless they have recently be replaced, and thats not a cheap bill:td:

honestly you need to try a better tuner, superchips are GARBAGE! a PPE economy tuner, or diablosport predator are 100% better:c:

i went from 13mpg mixed highway/town driving it like i stole it, to 18mpg with a 65hp tune on EFI, same driving style

EGR 4 times, then I blocked it. Steering column intermediate shaft, twice, lower steering column bearing, driveline vibration, reshimmed the tranny mount and altered carrier bearing, rear leaf spring bumpers a zillion times, actually every 2000 miles, loose ventilation ducts behind dash, tranny cooler lines, trucks on it's third set of tires, and they're half gone, and we're only at 42000 miles. My father told someone the other day that we buy a chevy once every 20 years to remind ourselve not to buy one.

I forgot to mention that it's been at the dealer all week for an unknown fuel issue. I started it Monday evening and when I pulled it into gear it died instantly. Had it towed to the dealer and their tech thinks it's a part for the filter assembly. They can't tell me what part, or how it works, but as of Friday afternoon, they still didn't have the part. I also have my doubts that their part will fix the problem since when it died it quit like power to the injectors was killed. It never starved for fuel, nor did it throw any codes when it died. What a piece of crap.

you have an air leak in the system, that will happen, possibly the bleed screw ontop of the filter housing cracked, its common to happen

I have had my truck for about 30000k miles and have loved every minute of it, even the parts of it where i had to fix it, the tires will not last, its a 650ft/lb torque monster, no tire lasts on these things

On an update i got 22mpg today, drove about 330miles and i was very pleased, i was in 4x4 1/3 of the trip and still managed that, kept my speed at 60-65mph

I have babied mine, driving it like it has an egg for an accelerator pedal, tried to squeeze every bit of fuel mileage out of it that I can, best I've ever seen was just under 17 mpg hwy. I'm currently looking for a Dodge in the '03-07 range. My wifes '02 with a tuner on it pumped up an additional 100 lb ft. of torque barely even wears the tires. Nope, I believe I have a Monday truck.

Just kidding dude, both my car and truck are handshakers, and I even do lots of city driving, but I still havent even started to get tired of the ol 5 speed.

i was getting 13mpg with mine how i drive, but now with the tuning, the ppe intake mod, and straight pipe, i get much better mileage, but EFI tuning is to superchips as the TAR21 is to a flint tipped arrow.....:choochoo:

On and edit, you wont be much happier with the 03-07 5.9l mileage as you think, my 05 got very similar mileage as my dmax, and i dont have to ride a lumber wagon now

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

what kind of milage do u get with your max now brightwhiteram ?

I could really use a bit of help ...... i think un loaded my father in law
should get at least 20 -24 mpg un loaded he dosent drive like a pozesed demon.....anyways.... i think an intake and an exhaust maybe a light tune..... what do u think ....?

BriteWhiteRam 12-07-2010 02:02 PM

intakes are no good, leave the stock intake alone, they are designed as good as aftermarket, and the powercore filter flows better than 100% of aftermarket filters, and its capable or more efficient and better filtering to boot, these stock intakes are well capable well past 500hp, i run approximately 370rwhp and my intake works awesome
A nice 4" exhaust will help keep egts' lower, and free up all the restrictions in the stock system

My current mileage is 18-22mpg, depending on driving style, thats with stock modified intake, cut out the muffler and cat, and a 365rwhp EFI tune

stock i was getting 13-18, depending on driving style:td:
