My friends truck broke down.....

My friends truck broke down last night.:notworking: He's got an '04 Duramax with an Edge chip on it and he said when he was driving back home last night it started losing power all of the sudden and was staying around 500 rpms. He pulled into a shell station and unplugged his chip so it would reset the computer and he turned it on and cranked up fine. The CEL is on now and i guess it threw some codes. My question is what do you think happened? He also has been running the truck in setting 4 ever since he filled his tank up. Would that have caused it?

what were the codes?

Idk yet. They are takin it to the shop now and my friend thinks its fuel related like a injector or the fuel rail or somethin along those lines.

Could be an injector. I remember a few coming into the shop that had marginal injectors and would only act up if a tuner was used.

I know you said it's an '04 and you posted in the LB7 section, but just to make sure is it an Lb7 or an LLY?? Could make all the difference as we try to guess.

Pretty sure its a LB7 and i found out today what happened........the #7 injector went out on him. So they got a new injector and put it in and also their is another problem :argh: but he hasnt found out what it is yet from his dad so ill keep yall posted

Just reading that sentence alone, it sounds like an LLY. Reason being, on an LB7, they would of replaced all injectors, not just one, and it would of taken all day, if not longer.

If it's an LLY, the injector would take 10 minutes, BUT it's probably the connector going to the injector and not the injector itself. There are a lot of problems with the #2 and #7 injector connectors and very few problems with the injector, but never rule out anything. :U:

Hell, if it's warrenty, let them throw all the parts possible on it. :5:

Well turns out he told me wrong. It was the CONNECTOR to the injector and you are right Rttoys it is a LLY. Sorry for puttin this thread in the wrong forum. I thought his truck was an LB7.

I moved this over to the LLY section for you. Hope you get it figured out!
