Yup....I Did It.
Greetings, Fellas. I bought that 2001 3500 4x4 w/ 51k I asked about last night. My only concern was injector problem. Guess I got over it; largely from support herein.
But, what gives on that injector issue? Is it just a roll of the dice whether yours are the from the "bad bin" or not...?? I assume that there are indeed some the NEVER have injector issues....right? And, if injectors go bad, what are you looking at in $$$....anybody know....just "ballpark"....?? While I've got the 200K mile beat by a mile, the 7 year limit is gone. Thank you all, again. --Bryant "I've a mind like a steel trap; things just wander in here...and come out mangled." |
CONGRATS BRYANT!!! Welcome to the diesel club.
Yes it is hit or miss as to whether your injectors will fail or not. On an average you can expect to pay $1000-1500 to get them replaced but if you cross that road there's no sense in going back with stock. :) |
Thank you, Dangerous; IF they fail, have you a recommendation beyond stock injectors?
--Bryant |
The 7 years is from the original date of purchase so you may not be out quite yet but close. The injectors are just as you said it seems "bad bin" or not.
Just bomb that truck and be happy you got a good deal ,because new injectors ar going to run you about 8k. |

:U: Thank you; I shall indeed. Deploying to Texas/Mexico border; at least this time it's not Iraq/Afghan. I will drive her out there. :) |
Lots of good companies out there that make great injectors. ATS, Edge, Don M, MC Schwartz.
|
Congrats on the purchase. Now go out and drive the wheels off.

Bliss. :tttt: I spent some time out at WSMR just north of there. Blowing things up for work was too much fun. :bomb: |
Thank you all. I will get some pictures and post just as soon as possible; leaving for a tough mission set all weekend, so it'll be MON or so before I can post them.
Thank you all, really. --Bryant |
2500HD is right, i worked for a GM dealership and while there did 2 sets of diesel injectors, both were under warranty but if it was to be paid out of pocket youd be looking between $4,000 and $5,000 parts and labor
