loss of power?

so i had a very long ordeal tryin to get my SCIV in stalled correctly. my truck sat up in shops for about 5 months. now all that is said and done and is working perfectly but, my truck seems to have lost power. im gettin more black smoke and a lot of hesitation off the line. no codes or anything. you think my lift pump is working optimal? my air filter is a little dirty so im gonna clean it/replace it if i can find a k/n replacement for it. should i also change air dog filters? i had an lly with a stealth II only, get about three truck lengths off me from the line:ouch:. took me bout 1/8 mile to catch up. unacceptable lol

how do your balance rates look?

does the filterminder indicate a filter change/clean? and how much pressure are you getting from the airdog and is your FP tap before or after the stock FF. i doubt there is a problem with the tuning rob is a good tuner

i dont know how to check any of that you just described. how do you check airdog pressure? and balance rates? if by filterminder your referring to the green and red plastic object by the filter, i dont think its ever worked. FP? sorry, dont know too much. can you go further into detail . thanks

You can check the pressure you are getting by the airdog with a fuel pressure gauge. I put my sensor for the fuel pressure in between the factory fuel filter and cp3 pump so that i can tell if my fuel filter is staring to get dirty.

your airdog should come with a low fuel pressure indicator light if im not mistaken, and thta should tell you when the filters in the airdog are getting dirty. how many miles do you have on the filters right now?

The balance rates is a test done by using a scanner to read how balanced each injector is at idle. The test can tell you if you have a bad or slow injector based on the readings. its very simple to do and its usually accurate. There is another test to check the injectors thats called a return test, but that involves pulling the valve covers off and special hoses and graduated cylinders.

Yes the filterminder is the red and green plastic cylinder with the yellow button on top of it. baisicly it work off of suction, when the filter gets dirtier it makes it harder for the air to pass though the filter creating more of a vaccume on the inside of the intake. when the filter gets really dirty the vaccume caused by the turbo actually sucks in the filterminder and tells you to change the filter. you can easy check the filterminder by pulling it out and putting a vaccume on it. it only takes about the same effort as it does to drink a milkshake though a straw.

FP stands for Fuel Pressure

thanks a lot man. the airdog came with an optional low pressure light which i of course declined for some reason. im just gonna go ahead order that along with the two filters. im going to go check the filterminder now. i dont have a fp gauge and cant afford one right now so hopefully the new filters will help. also, for the balance rates, how do you check it. i dont think efi can do it so do i need a tech II?

efi live can do it, when scanning upload this PID selection and log the data when the truck is in park and when the truck is up to temp. you can also do it when the truck is in gear holding down the brake

Whats your email so i can send you the pid selection, i cant attach it to a thread here

thanks for the help man. balance rates look good. just ordered new airdog filter with the low pressure switch. hope that helps

you can also tune the truck back to stock and see if it still does it.

what were the balance rates?

dhardy1357 08-19-2009 05:52 PM

#7 was the only one that was a little off. it got to +-3.xx. all others were in +-1.xx
