1995 6.5TD

Hello I have purchased a 1995 6.5 TD Had the truck for a week and it ran great. This past Saturday i was having a loss of power. Truck won't go over 35-40mph. I changed the fuel filter out. Still no better I then noticed I wasn't getting fuel to the filter. I changed out the lp this morning and now have plenty of fuel and the truck starts up and idles I can rev the engine between 1800 to 2800 rpm in Park with no problem. As soon as I take the truck on the road and get on it. The truck goes when I let off the engine dies.. Any ideas? :argh:

Sounds like Oil pressure sensor??? my truck was doing this a couple weeks ago changed OPS now runs great

still no change

Ok so I Purchased and Installed a new oil pressure sensor this morning. Truck starts up and idles fine but as soon as I rev the engine it runs very rough and stalls.. Thinking maybe a bad PMD?? Anyone have any ideas? I'm really hoping its not a bad injector pump. I have a spare pmd and changed it out and the engine still runs the same.. :td:

Have you cracked open the T valve while it is idling? should have plenty of fuel come out of the hose when this is done it kind of sounds like a lift pump issue

GRRRRR

Installed a brand new lift pump yesterday.. Sometime I have fuel at the T and other times I have none.. This has me puzzled??:humm:

Ok then its a lift pump issue do you know how to do the fuel pump relay bypass ?

95heathturbo6.5 06-27-2012 05:26 PM

No I don't..:nope:

I'm going to run a hot wire direct to the lift pump and see if the truck will stay running like that.. If thats the case I will just run a toggle switch to the hot wire and I will manually start and stop the pump..:humm:

I hooked a hot wire to the lift pump had constant fuel to the T still truck idles and still won't take any fuel. Thinking I might have a bad injector pump or something else going on.. Anyone have any ideas please?? Truck has been down for 6 days now??? Almost wishing I never bought it. Hoping its something very simple that I'm over seeing... :dang:

just bypass the relay under the hood to an accessory fuse. (about 2 inches of wire and it will use the ignition switch. no muss no fuss.

got my truck running today.. found more issues the mice have chewed the wires to the ecm fixed all the wires. Now thinking I need a pmd it gets so hot you can't touch it and yes I have the relocation kit. When the pmd gets hot the engine dies. I am picking up a new pmd in the morning hoping this fixes the probem. I replaced the starter this morning was having issues with it. also replaced the LP and the OSP so hoping I'm narrowing in on the actual issue. :humm:

also check for gound ground on PMD wiring harness . That could be cause of PMD getting hot also where is it relocated and I use a Super cooler . seems to cool better I found them on Ebay for $30.00 . Also make sure that Fuel shutoff silinoid on Injection pump is wiorking . I had a close to same promblem and turned out to be a faulty shut off. While engine running just tap on side Lightly with a plastic handle of screw driver. and she if it stubbles engine if so replace it.
