If you've got big rolling clouds of white or black, check your glows and glow circuit, or your engine isn't as healthy as you may think it is. Even one bad glow plug or a cylinder down on compression will give you symptoms like these in the cold.

Something is "off"....

You are just one of the lucky ones most of these truck will put white smoke on first cold or hot

Lucky?

Nope.

Everything up to snuff?

Yup.

Well, I should also mention I have reflashed my cold start glow cycle and afterglow in my PCM.

Not as much a factor with the duraterms, but every bit helps.

My trucks good starting manners are mainly accountable to new glows and a brand new GEP engine...

Apparently brand new motors don't smoke white on start up, they smoke black? I'm missing something here but thanks for the input great white

The white smoke is normally raw diesel, the black smoke is partially burnt diesel.

White smoke is normally a bad glow plug, old glow plugs that don't quite reach temp or something not quite up to par in the glow circuit.

An engine with a good reciprocating assembly (ie: ring sealing) is just a cleaner burning unit than a tired engine and gets with the program faster on a cold morning.

all white smoke is is diesel fuel that isnt burnt hot enough

So a lot of white smoke for like 3 to 5 min. Means I have really bad glow plugs right. What if I'm driving and have white smoke

White smoke on startup is a good sign that GP's are bad or the controller is not functioning properly and if you have white smoke while driving you could have trash in the injectors or they need replacing try some Seafoam in the fuel tank this may clear it up if they are not to far gone.
