The fuel heater is located inside the filter manager at the back of the engine.

It's only purpose is the keep the fuel from gelling/waxing in the cold.

Unlikely. Once the fuel solenoid shuts off, the injector isn't holding much pressure in the line. If you have high mileage injectors they may "pee" a bit as they aren't shutting off cleanly at the end of the injection event. This can be caused by a buggered seat on the pintle. Lowered pop pressure doesn't really "pee" but it can give a poor spray pattern and improper injection timing.

But, you would have other problems if your injectors are this bad. Ie: poor running and in a worst case scenario a holed piston.

How many miles on your injectors and are there any other problems besides white smoke at start?

My truck has 137,000 miles with the original injectors. Once it starts, it smooths right out after it shakes and smokes for a few seconds. I didn't have it plugged in today since it was 73 degrees outside and it still bucked and smoked like it should have been plugged in.

sounds like you could have a head gasket issue, pull the glow plugs and see if youget any water coming out cranking it.

PULL THE GLOW PLUG RELAY OUT OF THE TRUCK BEFORE!!!!

I've got a couple ideas, but would like to see a current fault code list before going further.

Just so there's nothing "erroneous" in the list, clear your codes and then pull the new ones out.

That way you'll only get active faults.

You've got a lot of transmission error codes and what looks like a history "crank pos sensor" codes in your first post which doesn't seem to jive with your problem.

Can you share your ideas?
My issue still persists. (sounds the same boomergoose) how can i get the most recent code to share with you. It does not seem to be related to leaky head gaskets as I replaced mine last year. more of a unburned fuel issue type of smoke.

I was going to start replacing injectors, then the injection pump but this will be costly.
I would also like to know how you burn your own eproms.

Sorry, not until I get a list of whatever DTC's you have rolling around in the PCM. Anything I would thow out right now would be nothing but speculation and just as likely to send you down the wrong path as anything else.

I only do OBDII for 6.5's, although I have burned chips for OBDI gassers before.

*edit; oopps, missed your list at the beginning of the thread. Gimme a bit to think and type*

*second edit: hang on a second here, we've got two topics running in one thread. Please break your subject off into it's own thread to avoid unproductive confusion*
